The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Real Life Impacted Eileen Davidson’s Write-Out – Ashley Satisfied, Jack A Mess

The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Real Life Impacted Eileen Davidson's Write-Out – Ashley Satisfied, Jack A MessA panoramic scene of Genoa City was followed by a single shot of Ashley (Eileen Davidson) jetting to Paris, France, on ‘The Young and the Restless’. That was followed by a deep shot of Jack’s (Peter Bergman) lamenting look as he stood in the iconic Abbott family living room.

The real life event that is linked to Ashley’s departure is at once heartbreaking and uplifting. Knowing that Davidson’s real life mother is suffering from Alzheimer’s adds infinite texture to the work she’s delivered within the last year. Dina (Marla Adams) circumstance came to be, in this author’s opinion and likely those of many in the audience, Y&R’s most well-written and important storylines in many years.

With however it came about, the storyline that eventually led to Ashley’s write-out leaves Jabot in peril. How will this family cosmetics company respond now that most of their products can’t be sold? Meanwhile, in the city where her mother led Mergeron to greatness, Ashley will be founding My Beauty, a new cosmetics company that builds off her patented work.

Davidson ranks, without a reasonable debate, with the top actors to appear on Y&R during her entire run, which began in 1984. Her varied, long stints as Ashley created a legacy character whose presence will forever linger in Genoa City.

Bergman debuted on Y&R in 1989. He assumed a role that Terry Lester originated five years prior. Like Davidson, Bergman has become one of the iconic faces on this enduring daytime steamer.

This week’s arrival of a new chemist, Kerry Johnson (to be played by new cast member Alice Hunter), will address Jabot’s business needs. But on a more important personal level, the Abbott family has been torn apart by an issue that stems back to a series of brilliant flashback scenes.

Dina’s admitted mistake, in having abandoned her family in 1971, created scars that exist on the souls of Ashley, Jack, and their connected characters. Time won’t create a full solution. So, it will be very intriguing to see how the remaining Abbott’s handle what will now become a new Jabot.
