The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers point to a writing change at your favorite CBS soap.
As they say, out with the old and in with the new, and thus we expect some major as well as subtle changes ahead.
The Young and the Restless spoilers hint that plot shifts are coming once Jamey Giddens and Dan O’Connor’s material debuts on November 11.
Soap fans are legendarily loyal and vocal about their shows, and as such, there are some controversial plots we may see changed soon.
Several storylines are not exactly popular and could be on the chopping block:
Key Takeaways
- New writers could bring major changes to Genoa City
- Matt’s controversial storyline may face the axe
- Nick’s addiction plot could finally reach its end
- Phyllis and Victor’s ongoing feud may need a fresh direction
- Fans could see significant storyline shifts beginning in November
1. Matt’s Pathos
Matt Clark’s (Roger Howarth) undulating storyline has become unbelievable as well as tired.
Most fans recognize the ridiculousness of having his attack victim, Sharon Newman (Sharon Case), therapize him at his demand.
No, this is not the real world, even within the confines of soapland.
As previously reported, Sharon could be falling straight into Matt’s dangerous trap, which only raises more questions about this controversial storyline.
For the love of everything holy, we hope that the new writing team nixes this pathetic plot right out of the gate.
Sharon deserves better.
2. Nick’s Raging Addiction
Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) is a one-note character these days, angry and addicted.
Okay, that’s two notes, but neither is striking a chord with fans (see that?).
It’s time to put the man out of his misery and swap out the pills for a decent plot.
And we don’t mean with that hot mess Marie woman who’s done nothing but lead him astray.
With Nick potentially taking drastic action against Matt, could the writers finally give him a storyline that moves beyond his addiction and anger?
3. Phyllis And Victor’s War
Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) waxing and waning star is on the rise again as she hopes to ruin Newman Enterprises via Arabesque.
It looks like a new war was penned for Phyllis and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), so we hope that the new writing team takes an ax to this tired trope.
Phyllis is a stunning woman who should be bewitching GC’s finest, not going after old enemies ad nauseam.
With the new writing team preparing to put its stamp on Genoa City, perhaps Phyllis will finally get a fresh direction instead of another battle with Victor.
Maybe Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) will stop Phyllis’ battle with Victor before it begins?
It’s surprising that he chose to work with his mom. Maybe this time around he will be the voice of reason she listens to.
Editor’s Take
I would love to see the new writers shake things up in Genoa City! First on my list would be putting an end to this ridiculous situation with Sharon trying to help Matt.
After everything he’s done to her, why on earth should she be responsible for fixing him? Give Sharon a storyline that doesn’t involve being terrorized by the same man over and over again!
And poor Nick! I’m tired of watching him spiral from one disaster to another. It’s time he got his life back together.
As for Phyllis and Victor, haven’t we seen this battle enough times already? Both characters are capable of so much more. I’m hoping the new writers bring back some romance, family drama, and unexpected twists instead of recycling the same old feuds. What would you change first?
