On General Hospital a fuse has been lit and it’s only a matter of time before the explosion hits. Following in the wake of the tragic demise of young bi-polar sufferer Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig), the city of Port Charles and most assuredly the Corinthos and Jerome families are about to be blindsided by the owner of a pair of black gloves.
Morgan suffering from increasing manic episodes and erratic behavior, stole mob boss Julian Jerome’s car and perished in a car bomb meant for the mobster. This has lead to pervasive guilt across Port Charles amongst his family and friends. One citizen in particular is consumed with guilt for good reason.
Ava Jerome (Maura West) unbeknownst to anyone but her sometime attorney, the shady Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner), switched Morgan’s daily bi-polar meds with placebo pills. This was done in a convoluted attempt to keep her daughter Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin) away from Morgan and into the arms of her true love Dillon Quartermaine (Robert Palmer Watkins).
In the aftermath of Morgan’s death, Ava panicked and realized she needed to get the pills back and dispose of them. She managed to do this by coming to the Corinthos home on the pretense of paying her respects to Morgan’s father Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and to pay a visit to Avery the child she shares with Sonny.
After nearly getting caught by Avery’s new nanny Nelle Hayes (Chloe Lanier) as well as Sonny. Ava managed to retrieve the pills and hightail it out of Casa Corinthos unscathed.
This is where things take a further twist. After dumping the pills in a trash can, Ava leaves thinking her mission was successful. However an unseen person sporting black gloves reaches into the trash can and takes the phony pills.
So there is a person in town that at the very least knows that Ava had a reason to steal and dispose of Morgan’s meds. Has this person taken it a step further and had the pills analyzed to discover the tragic truth. That Ava is as much if not more responsible for Morgan’s death than the car bomb? Who is this Person?
Let’s look at some suspects. Could it be P.I. Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) who is investigating the bombing for Julian? Perhaps Nelle followed Ava and recovered the pills? A stretch would be Valentine Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) but heck he seems to have his hand in many cookie jars, so who knows? Scott maybe?
However there is one suspect that towers above the others and would make for some excellent soapy thrills. There is someone in Port Charles who at this point hates Ms. Jerome more than even the Corinthos family.
Drumroll please for the much maligned at the hands of Ava, the one and only Nina Reeves (Michelle Stafford). Following and watching Ava is definitely in Nina’s wheelhouse, considering that Ava had an affair decades ago with Nina’s husband the late Dr. Silas Clay (Michael Easton) and became pregnant with Silas’s child Kiki. Nina. who was also with child. was forced into a coma by her mother and lost her child.
Awakening twenty years later Nina has lamented her lost child and has become driven to be a mother. Unfortunately while in the coma, Nina entered into menopause and will not be able to conceive a child. This set of circumstances led Ms. Reeves down a cray, cray path of vengeance against Ava. Nina kidnapped a pregnant Ava and induced labor, after which she kidnapped Avery. Eventually the baby was returned and Nina sought treatment for her mental issues and became the editor of Julian’s Crimson magazine.
The desire for motherhood continued to consume Nina and after an unsuccessful attempt to convince her then boyfriend Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) to be a parent with her, Nina broke up with Franco and turned to much less scrupulous means to obtain a child.
With the help of Curtis, Nina had a meeting in a local park with a young unwed mother. Ava interrupted this meeting.
After surmising the goings on, she proceeded to tell all. The horrified young girl rushed away. Nina swore revenge on a smug Ava.
So there you go. This would be the perfect opportunity for Ms. Reeves to get revenge.
What do you think? Is Nina the one? Was it the one of the other suspects mentioned? When the truth hits, Ava will have nowhere to hide from retribution from Morgan’s family and friends. Riveting television will be enjoyed the day Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) discovers Ava’s role in her beloved and tortured baby boy’s death. Imagine Ms. Wright and Ms. West in those scenes. Buckle up it’s going to be a bumpy ride, can’t wait!
