On the same day former Prince Andrew was due to mark his milestone 66th birthday, he was arrested and taken into custody over misconduct in a civil office.
Now we’re learning that this investigation has expanded to include sexual offenses that may have been committed by the disgraced royal in his younger years.
If he is found guilty on any count, the former working royal may just be the first modern royal to taste what it feels like to waste away behind bars. Maybe he may then learn to cherish his new abode even more.
Police To Look Into Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Sexual Misconduct Claims
Andrew is getting to taste the sting of the real world a little bit more, especially now that his mother is no longer here to shield him.
If you can recall, he had reportedly brazenly told the police that they can’t arrest him because he is the Queen’s son.
Well they did, and now they’ve even decided to expand the scope of their investigations to cover sexual misconduct in a public office.
“In addition to the investigation into misconduct in public office, the assessment of reports that a woman was taken to an address in Windsor in 2010 for sexual purposes is ongoing,” the statement reads.
It continued by stating that investigators have been in touch with the woman’s legal representative, and that the victim has been assured of an investigation handled with “care, sensitivity and respect for (her) privacy.”
“We recognise how difficult it can be to speak about experiences of this nature, and any contact with police will be led by her wishes, when and if she feels ready and able to do so,” they added.
Late last year, Andrew formally lost his last remaining royal titles, as email leaks further exposed his clandestine ties to late convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
In addition to speaking to a “number of witnesses,” Thames Valley Police Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright promised that the team was “committed to conducting a thorough investigation.”
“Misconduct in public office is a crime that can take different forms, making this a complex investigation,” he stated. “Our team of very experienced detectives are working meticulously through a significant amount of information that has come in from the public and other sources.”
