Critics Blast Meghan Markle’s 'As Ever' Brand Over “Embarrassing” New Product Launch

It’s been an interesting few days on the internet, especially since Meghan Markle announced the launch of new As Ever products: matchboxes.

Made fancy in navy blue coloring and elegant lettering, the matchboxes were released as part of a bundle, featuring, you guessed it, As Ever candles.

But, the jokes have been writing themselves since then, with one buyer of As Ever product joking that they can now buy fancy matches to light their wickless candle.

Are Meghan Markle’s Matchboxes A New Tactic To Sell Out “Stubborn” Stock?

Late last year, as the rest of us were trying to enjoy the last days of our Christmas holidays, Meghan Markle was probably not doing so well.

You see, a glitch on her website at the time had revealed that thousands of As Ever stock were sitting unwanted at warehouses.

A few months into this year, Netflix announced that they will be parting ways with the lifestyle brand, which should have been merrily celebrating its first birthday. As if to add salt to injury, reports surfaced to claim that Netflix was only cutting losses and running away.

Prior to that, Meghan Markle’s PR team had tried to spin it that the exit was always planned from the start, and that Netflix’s “cautious” strategies was holding the business back.

In addition to this, Variety reported that Netflix was giving out the jams for free to their staff because no one wanted it.

Now, as a bid to sell out her inventory, Meghan has decided to try a new tactic. This new ploy involves bundling up some As Ever products and throwing in a few matchboxes for free.

While these matchboxes come at no extra cost for the buyer, some fans just saw it as the Duchess’s new and desperate way of attracting customers.

“The As Ever matches have officially landed, and it appears that it’s just a ploy to sell stubborn inventory. At least she’s not adding an extra cost for the matches,” one critic mocked, adding, “Could it be that Meghan is learning? Probably not as discounting and sales would be the much smarter move than paying for a cheap tag along product for her bundles but Meghan’s stuck.”

They continued: “Her solution is endless bundles, which reveals the weakness of products as they can’t sell on their own, so Meghan has to bundle and add a limited edition piece to help.”

Others encouraged her to slash prices to sell out the stock before they expire, and either reevaluate her business plans, or go into a new business.
