True crime channels changed a lot with the rise of AI, and those who want good grounded coverage might easily become sidetracked by totally fake storylines. So, it became apparent that there’s a demand for good quality feedback. We narrowed down five of the best go-to channels who deliver on YouTube right now. Read on to see who they are.
Brian Entin Investigates
Whenever there’s a new case, you might see it on Fox or CNN, but don’t forget there are folks like Brian Entin out there. In fact, sometimes, the bigger mainstream outlets cite his work.
Quickly on the ground, he sticks around and does much more than just report what authorities say in pressers.
Jesse Weber’s got his own podcast, but also appears on NewsNation as a senior correspondent. Entin gained a loyal following of more than half a million followers because he’s respectful of the victims and the families in traumatic crime.

He got a lot of kudos for his coverage during the Gabby Petito case, and got his feet n the ground, as he followed up the Brian Laundrie story.
He was in Pennsylvania when Bryan Kohberger was arrested, and of course, he recently spent months in Tucson investigating the Nancy Guthrie case.
He brings in experts who dissect every fact, every theory, and every angle. But, he does it without theatrics and delivers the best of ethical journalism.
Ashleigh Banfield On Drop Dead Serious
Like Brian, Ashleigh also reports for NewsNation. However, she recently expanded her Drop Dead Serious podcast. If you don’t know, she’s been around in the true crime scene for decades.
She became a go-to boots-on-the-ground journalist back during the 9/11 tragedy. A veteran reporter, Ashleigh Banfield is known for asking the hard questions and hangs on tenaciously.
Certainly, she earned her Emmy Award by delivering hard-hitting news. Banfield always explains the point of her reporting so anyone can understand it. So, her @DropDeadSerious YouTube channel has nearly 600K followers.

People who follow her like her deep digging into critical clues, active mysteries, and glaring injustices. Sometimes, she goes where others fear to tread with her analytical discussions about ongoing high-profile investigations.
Right now, she;s hot on heels of the Brian Hooker case in the Bahamas.
Jesse Weber
Jesse delivers great coverage on true crime because he knows his legal stuff, with a background in law. Well known for Prime Crime and his Sidebar podcast, he also appears on the Law&Crime Network as an anchor and host.
He’s a go-to if you want smart, real-time legal breakdowns. You won’t find him just regurgitating old headlines, either.

He takes his viewers right into the defense and the prosecution. So, you can expect him to walk you through courtroom hearings as they happen.
He’s been busy lately, dissecting the case against D4vd, the R&B singer charged with the murder, dismemberment and concealing evidence in the case of Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
Nancy Grace
Very different from Brian Entin and Jesse Weber is Nancy Grace. If you want some Nancy Grace, it’s probably because she’s fiercely on the side of victims.
Since she’s a former prosecutor, she knows what she’s talking about, and weak defense teams get thoroughly bashed. She doesn’t mince her words in the slightest, and folks enjoy her because she delivers powerful legal breakdowns.

The suspect in the Anna Kepner cruise murder gets no grace because he’s still a juvenile, and woe betide those who dismiss the idea of the coincidence of US missing scientists as fantasy.
Hidden True Crime
The channel on YouTube interests those who like to understand the psychology behind true crime. Heading toward 400K subscribers, they make for an unusual team.
Lauren Matthias produces and hosts the podcast. With her background as a journalist, she presents a good quality show. Sometimes, she digs into crime on her own, but often, her husband joins her.

Her husband is a practicing psychologist with 30 years of work under his belt. Dr. John Matthias serves as a federal expert witness and consultant on major cases. He holds degrees from Princeton and USC, and explains things so even the least crime-savvy viewers understand what’s going on.
Recently, ahead of the sentencing of Tanner Horner, accused of murdering a little girl in his FedEx delivery van, John explained how the prosecution successfully presented him as a monster in the minds of jurors.
In Summary
There are other people who do a good job as well, but this is our list of the top five go-tos:

- Drop Dead Serious with Ashleigh Banfield for deep investigations into cases which need some hard questions.
- Jesse Weber on Sidebar takes you into the courts.
- Nancy Grace injects so much energy into her passionate advocacy for victims, she’s never dull for a single second, and
