During Disney Night on Season 35 of Dancing With the Stars, Maura Higgins and Mark Ballas performed an upbeat jive to “You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly!” from Peter Pan. However, she didn’t perform as well as in the past, and she opened up about that.

Not Her Best Performance

The Daily Mail noted that Maura Higgins ended the night at the “bottom of the DWTS leaderboard,” despite looking rather charming as a fairy.

The duo scored 68 out of 80, but she wasn’t sent home. So, she stays on Dancing With the Stars for now, while Julia Stiles was eliminated.

What Went Wrong For Maura?

EW reported that Maura took to her social media and explained what happened. The outlet noted that as Disney Night progressed, the Dancing With the Stars contestant “looked visibly withdrawn.”

In her Instagram post, Maura had written, “I was really unwell, running on very little energy and trying to learn two dances, but I gave it absolutely everything I had.”

I’m not sharing this for sympathy or to make excuses, but simply to share a little of the reality behind the scenes! Sometimes all you can do is show up, give everything you have and be proud of yourself for trying!!

Maura Higgins ended up thanking Mark Ballas for being such a supportive pro dancer, and she thanked those who support her in the dancing competition.
