In his memoir, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, Collin details an alleged behind-the-scenes interaction involving the television doctor and his parents during the breakdown of their marriage.

Collin alleges that TLC offered Jon and Kate Gosselin $2 million to remain married for the sake of their reality TV show, with Dr. Phil allegedly involved in the proposal.
