Trent and Amber Johnston, the parents of five kids on 7 Little Johnstons, failed to pay taxes in Georgia for three years. And that sounds like someone else in reality TV. Remember, Todd Chrisley fought against allegations of non-payment. Read on for the details on the new lien news.
The Tax Lien
The news about the tax lien arrived on the same day that TLC premiered Season 16 of the show. The Sun reported that Trent and Amber Johnston failed to “pay federal taxes for 3 years.” So, back in late July, they were “hit with the lien” that came to $435,000.

It seems that bad luck has dogged the family this year, as Trent’s mom passed away. Additionally, he ended up with a worrying medical condition. Fans thought he had dementia, but new spoilers for the show reveal it seems a bit worse than that. However, fans don’t seem too sympathetic about the tax lien. Allegedly, they did not pay taxes for “2021, 2022, and 2023.”
Fans React To The News
When the news reached Reddit, naturally, viewers of the TLC show had something to say about it. In the discussion, it turned out that there is a lot of criticism, especially since Anna Johnston’s estrangement from the family.
Talking about tax and prison, one of them opined, “That would be icing on the cake honestly. Maybe 7 little years in prison.”
Meanwhile, other critics who know that the cast gets paid to be on the show wondered why so many times, reality TV stars don’t pay their taxes.
Here are few more remarks taken from the discussion:
- These 2 can never hold down jobs anyways. I swear Amber alone has had like 4 or 5 career changes since the show debuted. Living beyond their means and trying to coast by on TLC money for the most part.
- They’re a bunch of losers who pretend they are better than everyone else meanwhile every kid they have has issues because of their sh*tty parenting.
- Why is it everyone thinks they are exempt from taxes once they hit tv? You would think by now they would figure out that the IRS is going to get there (sic) money one way or another.
Could They Lose Their Nice Home?
From social media and from the show, everyone who watches knows that Trent and Amber Johnston live in a beautiful ranch-style home in rural Georgia. Could they lose it?
Well, that might depend on how their legal team negotiates things with the IRS. Or, they might go to court. The alternative could be that the sheriff will eventually conduct a nonjudicial tax sale.
