Prince Harry And Meghan Markle “Honored” To Attend The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Prince Harry And Meghan MarkleOn Friday, May 6, Buckingham Palace released a statement clarifying once and for all the royals that will be, and won’t be, making an appearance on the balcony during Trooping the Colour.

A few minutes after the announcement went live, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s spokesperson reacted to the news.

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Excited To Attend The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee With Their Children

Since the couple stepped down from their royal duties in 2020 and moved across the pond, the Queen has not met Archie. Lilibet, whom the couple welcomed June last year, is yet to meet her iconic great-grandmother.

In April, Harry and Meghan met the Queen for a brief meeting on their way to the Netherlands for the Invictus Games. During an interview Harry did with a U.S. network, he expressed doubts about attending the Queen’s Jubilee with his family due to security measures, but said that he’s working around it.

After the Sussexes’ private audience with the Queen, rumors began circulating suggesting that the Queen Invited Harry and Meghan to stand with the rest of the Royal Family on the balcony.

However, Buckingham Palace’s statement put an end to the rumors with their recent announcement, which read: “After careful consideration, the Queen has decided this year’s traditional Trooping the Colour balcony appearance on Thursday 2nd June will be limited to Her Majesty and those members of the Royal Family who are currently undertaking official duties on behalf of the Queen.”

This means that the Sussexes and the Yorks won’t get to wave at the crowds on the Mall as the third longest reigning monarch in history celebrates her 70th year on the throne.

18 minutes after the announcement, the Sussexes’ PR team responded: “Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are excited and honoured to attend The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this June with their children.”
