GH Spoilers: Britt Just Needs Her Mom

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal Britt getting the news she was dreading and never wanted to hear. Her Huntington’s Disease is now showing real symptoms.

General Hospital Spoilers – Britt Westbourne Is Stunned But Not

Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) knew what to expect as a doctor, but still can’t believe her ears when she meets with the specialist that Austin Holt (Roger Howarth) found for her and learns that her Huntington’s Disease is no longer laying dormant but is indeed progressing.

She thought there was a possibility she had years until this happened considering how long it took her father to show true symptoms. However, her shaking hand and her trouble swallowing of late have been the tip-offs and Austin just wants her to know all her options.

Although Austin is a good friend and moral support (and should be more if GH had any sense of which couples belonged together aside from Vanna), Britt decides to take her mother aside and tell her what’s been going on.

Immediately, Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) goes into doctor mode because that is who she is and she tries to think of new medical treatments out there that can help her daughter, but Britt stops her short. She already has a doctor. What she needs right now are a mother and a mother’s love.

That stops Liesl in her tracks as she realizes she has to be the mother she always wanted to be and comfort her “Britta”.

“I have to say this was probably the most painful and profound episode I have filed in 10 years,” Kathleen Gati said in the November 28, 2022, issue of Soap Opera Digest. “Liesl is devastated but on the outside, she tries to be strong and positive for Britta.”

All that changes when Britt asks for Liesl to change. “As soon as Britta tells her mother that she needs a mom, Liesl realizes she needs to back off the standard medical approach and just be present for her daughter. She realizes that she, too, desperately needs her daughter.”
