Royal Family News: Meghan Markle And Prince Harry “Night Nurse” Drama

Royal correspondent Omie Scobie revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had to fire an “irresponsible” night nurse, who was employed during Archie’s earlier days, after an “incident” that occurred one night. Though they fired her immediately for her incompetent work, the Sussexes may not be brave enough to hire another night nurse for their Baby Number 2.

Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Were Reportedly Forced to Fire An “Irresponsible” Night Nurse

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry fired an “irresponsible” night nurse who couldn’t do her job well after an “incident” that happened in the night, royal correspondent Omie Scobie revealed during an interview for the UK’s Channel 4 documentary A Very Royal Baby: From Cradle to Crown.

Omie Scobie is one of the authors of Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family, alongside Carolyn Durand. The royal couple’s struggle to find a better-suited night nurse was first reported in Finding Freedom.

“Very few people know the real story behind it. After Archie’s arrival, Harry and Meghan wanted some help to establish a sleep pattern,” Scobie shared in the documentary. “They hired a night nanny. Whilst I can’t go into someone else’s employment details for legal reasons, it was an incident on one of the first nights that put the couple off from having a night nurse.”

In their book about the Sussexes, Scobie and Durand referred to the first-night nurse as “irresponsible” and “unprofessional” when it came to handling little Archie. After the first “incident” which caused the Sussexes quite some stir, Meghan and Harry would get up several times in the middle of the night to check on Archie, even after they’ve fired the previous one and hired another, they felt more comfortable with.

At the end, it put the couple off of the idea of having a night nurse at all.

At first, the couple “didn’t want a Mary Poppins-type character around their child,” said Scobie in an interview for the documentary. But after the troubling incident, Harry and Meghan decided to hire a daytime nanny for Archie during the first months of his life.

It’s currently not clear the couple’s plans for handling their next child’s earlier months. Meghan is set to welcome her first daughter any day now. The couples work-life has been going steady with Meghan set to release her first children’s book soon and Harry taking on the role of Chief Impact Officer at BetterUp.

Meghan Markle’s 64-year-old mother Doria Ragland will likely be on hand for their daughter’s first few days to help the couple adjust, as she did when Archie was welcomed.
