Kate Middleton Admits To Feeling Isolated Following Prince George’s Birth

Kate Middleton is getting real about motherhood. The Duchess of Cambridge, who has three children with Prince William, admits that she felt very isolated after the birth of the couple’s first child, Prince George, back in 2013. Here’s what she has to say.

During a recent royal engagement at the Ely and Careau Children’s Center in Cardiff, Kate Middleton spoke to a group of first-time mothers about her own struggles with motherhood. Even though the Duchess has plenty of royal help and the support from her family and her friends, she says that the period after her first son was born was a challenging one for her. That’s because she felt very alone. She later went on to welcome her daughter Princess Charlotte in 2015 and her son Prince Louis in 2018.

“I was chatting to some of the mums. It was the first year and I’d just had George — William was still working with search and rescue — and we came up here and I had a tiny, tiny baby in the middle of Anglesey. It was so isolated, so cut off,” she said, according to reports. “I didn’t have any family around and [Prince William] was doing night shifts. So… if only I had had a center like this.”

The comments come after the Duchess of Cambridge announced that she is launching a new early childhood program. She also embarked on a 24-hour tour of the United Kingdom to help promote her new survey for parents and caregivers. In the survey, parents are asked five question about their children’s health, happiness and overall well-being.

“Parents, carers and families are at the heart of caring for children in the formative years, so that is why I want to listen to them,” The Duchess of Cambridge said in a post on the Kensington Royal Instagram account. “As a parent I know how much we cherish the future health and happiness of our children.”

Now, as far as whether or not the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are looking to have a fourth child in the near future remains to be seen. So far the couple have made no comments about their royal family plans.
