The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Elizabeth Hendrickson’s Retrospective Reflects Double Write-Out – Kevin and Chloe Will Be Missed

Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe) joined the cast of ‘The Young and the Restless’ in 2008. The veteran soap opera actress appears to have ended her run in Genoa City as Chloe Mitchell. Whether she eventually returns as another character is always possible, as this is daytime drama. But ‘Khloe’ is over.

Of course the memories that Kevin (Greg Rikaart) reviewed this week, while standing in front of Chloe’s coffin appear to be two-fold. Rikaart is filming his final scenes this month, so his character will be last seen in August. The retrospective ‘Khloe’ reel that was played actually served both actors.

In addition to many dramatic moments they created for Wisconsin residents, Chloe and Kevin injected needed comic relief into the show on many occasions. Their light-hearted, nerdy exploits brought smiles to the faces of countless fans. That’s often served to off-set heavy scenes that they, or other actors were playing out.

A terrific storyline unfolded within the last few months, as this star-crossed couple nearly married for a third time. Then, the audience was glad to be head-faked, as Billy (Jason Thompson) was ruled out as Bella’s (Gia Poeme) dad. How great it is that Kevin and Chloe were confirmed as the biological parents of Delia’s (Sophie Pollono) sister. It allowed Kevin to win on a personal front.

Looking back to the middle years of this decade, the ‘Delia Dies’ arc clearly represents Hendrickson’s greatest work. But that storyline also allowed Rikaart’s talent range to shine.

The loss of these characters will be felt by all seasoned Y&R fans who came to embrace them. Interestingly Kevin’s ascension to normalcy was countered by Chloe’s descent into madness.

Opposites attracted years ago, but by the end and despite their love for one another ‘Khloe’ became two different people. There’s still a chance that Y&R might offer a feel-good surprise for this couple as the summer unfolds. But even if it doesn’t, both actors unequivocally created great soap.
