'The Young and the Restless' Spoilers: Billy Making Inroads With Victoria – Jason Thompson Powers ProgressJason Thompson’s version of Billy is far different than Billy Miller’s was on ‘The Young and the Restless’. And the following comparison isn’t meant to be exact. Many people believe that Michael Muhney’s iconic version of Adam Newman couldn’t be topped, but Y&R’s audience came to accept Justin Hartley’s efforts because they were consistently excellent. Thompson’s projection of Billy is also right for these times.

Soap operas receive boundless amounts of free publicity through social media outlets and via the excellent analysis that is available throughout a leading site like Soap Opera Spy. Discussing how Hartley compared to Muhney, or how Thompson compares to Miller helps to promote awareness of the show. For Y&R, it’s a form of welcomed advertisement.

The Jill (Jess Walton) character was used as a plot vehicle to help facilitate ‘Villy’s’ rebirth. Her idea to place Billy and Vickie (Amelia Heinle) in close proximity to each other was brilliant. Jill knew that this likeable pair still loved each other and she believed that they just needed to spend enough time together in order to reignite their flame.

A segment of Y&R’s fan base continues to suggest that ‘Villy’ would be a disaster if a further sequel to this couple is written. While the historical accuracy those viewers cite is unquestioned in this quarter, this scribe would suggest that Thompson’s softer version of Billy could make a difference in how a new version of ‘Villy’ plays out.

Hartley’s softer version of Adam enabled a different ‘Chadam’ dynamic to exist. Isn’t it plausible to believe that Thompson’s Billy would be written differently than Miller’s version was with Heinle’s character. Plus, the current writing staff is not the same as when Miller was a member of the cast.

A further argument could rightly be made that suggests a different type of Billy would go against the character’s history. That point received near universal support when Chuck Pratt Junior’s team mashed Billy and Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) into ‘Philly’. But having a generally matured Billy evolve into a better romantic partner for Vickie is believable. And Thompson is responding well to this task.
