Dina abandoned her choices in the 1980’s. She did so two decades after free-thinking ideas invaded the minds of many parents. Ashley, Jack (Peter Bergman) and Traci (Beth Maitland) were naturally crushed by Dina’s actions. She left their father and acted as if her children were objects left behind in the pool house. Ashley’s particular angst was compounded by the revelation that she wasn’t John’s (Jerry Douglas) child. A stunning fact that served to influence Ashley’s later relationships.

However, Dina’s contrition is real and, like any person she deserves a shot at redemption. Thus Jack’s openness to Dina’s quest for forgiveness somewhat softened his maternal sister’s heart. Abby’s (Melissa Ordway) desire to get to know her grandmother then helped Ashley thoughts to further develop. But it was Traci’s initial recognition of Dina’s changed demeanor that caused Ashley to begin questioning her overall perception of their mother.

Seeing Graham lay her hands on Dina at the Genoa City Athletic Club was a game-changer. Past grudges were replaced by protective instincts the moment that scene played out in a fabulously tailored suite.

How about that? Ashley’s love for her mother appears to be stronger than the deep-seeded feelings she’s carried for years.
