Soap Opera Ratings for the Week of August 28 – September 1: CBS Daytime Dramas Take A Deep Dive

Soap Opera Ratings for the Week of August 28 - September 1: CBS Daytime Dramas Take A Deep DiveThe soap opera ratings for the week of August 29 through September 1, 2017 have been reported by Soap Opera Network. Soap opera fans need to remember that the arrival of Hurricane Harvey and its impact caused pre-emptions in various areas. While ABC’s General Hospital (GH) and NBC’s Day of Our Lives (DOOL) have made significant leaps in total viewership, CBS’ The Young and the Restless (Y&R) lost over 100,000 total viewers this week.

DAYS OF OUR LIVES

NBC’s DOOL has gained 46,000 total viewers since the week before but still slides a little with women viewers between 18-49 where they are down 1000 from the previous week. It could be the whole Dr. Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) and Adrienne Kiriakis (Judi Evans) being swapped out with Hattie and Bonnie, that is throwing fans off, or simply it could be the end of Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) and Adrienne’s relationship or possibly that Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker) could potentially lose her daughter, Holly permanently.

GENERAL HOSPITAL

ABC’s GH is on the rise with plus 46,000 total viewers and a new 42,000 in women aged 18-49. The venture to Morocco could have brought up the views, as well as the intense connection between Ava Jerome (Maura West) and Dr. Griffin Munro (Matt Cohen) grows while he struggles internally to keep his vows as a priest. Major couples like Nina Reeves (Michelle Stafford) and Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) find themselves reunited while others seem to have a slight crack between them.

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL

CBS’ B&B did rise in total viewship by 17,000 but lost 10,000 in women viewers between the ages of 18-49. It was rather a frustrating week for the soap opera with Dollar Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) carrying out his plan to destroy Spectra Fashions; putting Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) in the hospital and reuniting her with Thomas Forrester (Pierson Fode). The reunion didn’t last long, as Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and her husband, Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) struggle with what to do with what they know about Bill and his actions.

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS

CBS’ Y&R was the hardest hit of the daytime dramas as the soap opera dropped by 163,000 total viewers this week. It also has a new low with women 18-49 down 39,000 from last week. It could be that Hilary Curtis (Mishael Morgan) continues to manipulate Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) and Mariah Copeland’s (Camryn Grimes) relationship that is bothering the fans or the fact that Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) has reunited with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman); but continues to be sucked into Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) drama. We continue to watch to see how the storyline involving the sex trafficking ring is exposed.
