Neighbours Spoilers: Lilly Van der Meer Teases Hot New Xanthe StorylineIn this week’s Neighbourshood webisode, fans were treated to a brand spanking new Neighbours spoiler! Lilly Van der Meer revealed that after leaving school under unfortunate circumstances, Xanthe Canning will be re-enrolling at Erinsborough High!

Xanthe quit year 12 earlier in the year at the end of a controversial storyline which saw her emotionally manipulated and abused by high school teacher Finn Kelly (Rob Mills). She had a few jobs in the meantime – including beauty therapist and personal assistant – but the teen now believes it’s time to go back to school.

Finn Kelly was introduced to the soap in March of this year, joining Erinsborough High as a science teacher. Upon discovering that he was an ex-lover of Elly’s with a dodgy past, fans immediately became suspicious of the newbie. It wasn’t long until Finn began to manipulate Xanthe, seeing that she had a crush on him.

He used this to his advantage, turning her against her boyfriend, friends, teachers and even family; he made her fall in love with him! When she later discovered that Finn had been manipulating her, with his ultimate aim to become high school principal, Xanthe felt both heartbroken and ashamed. So ashamed in fact that she dropped out of school, fearing she would be a laughing stock.

After a break from school Xanthe soon decides to return and repeat year 12, much to her family’s pleasure. In true soap style however, her homecoming doesn’t come without obstacles. Speaking to Neighbourshood host Ben Nicholas, Lilly reveals that Xanthe finds herself in a predicament almost immediately, facing punishment in her first week for something she absolutely denies doing.

Lilly told Ben, “Something happens on the first week back and she’s already been accused of something which she obviously didn’t do. She’s getting into trouble and she’s trying to defend her case, but no-one is believing her.”

Will anyone believe Xanthe, or is her reputation tarnished? As drama always seems to find her, Xanthe’s school year will sure be an exciting watch!
