‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Christian Reveal Opens Dylan’s Exit Door – Long Goodbye Planned For Steve Burton

'The Young and the Restless' Spoilers: Christian Reveal Opens Dylan's Exit Door – Long Goodbye Planned For Steve BurtonDylan’s (Steve Burton) shock over the Christian reveal starts the endgame clock for this character on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Devoted fans know that Burton recently announced his voluntary departure from this iconic soap opera, with his last filmed scenes set to be recorded in December and shown during the early part of 2017. The dissolution of his marriage to Sharon (Sharon Case) heads the list of one-offs that Burton will work through before departing the set.

‘Shylan’ grew organically. Sharon and Dylan became friends before they genuinely fell in love. Dylan’s past connections to Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Avery (Jessica Collins) were resolved, in varying ways, before a clear path to Sharon was built. Once together, these characters seemed to mesh well and appeared to be a super couple that could endure for years. Yet, doom’s glow was spotted the moment Mrs. McAvoy reverted to form.

Sharon never seems to learn her lesson where explosive secrets are concerned. She opted to say nothing, instead of confiding in her husband the moment fog began clearing in her memory about the incidents at Fairview. The resultant DNA test she felt compelled to have conducted confirmed that Sully didn’t exist and that he was in fact Christian Newman.

Now, after finally learning the truth from his wife, Dylan has begun battling with his brother Nick (Joshua Morrow). But he likely won’t be able to legally retain custody of a baby who isn’t his biological child. When that boy is ripped from Dylan’s arms he’ll surely vent his full wrath upon Sharon. And that’s hardly the basis that a sustainable marriage will be built upon.

So, the first step in this character’s exit has quickly led into Round 2, where Sully became Christian. Next, Dylan will speak with his parents Paul (Doug Davidson) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), along with ‘Stitch’ (Sean Carrigan). However, the solace he’ll receive through their trusted opinions won’t prevent him from wanting to get away from Wisconsin. Unless, of course, this character will be recast instead of written into the sunset.
