‘Nashville’ Season 5 Spoilers: CMT Adding New Male Cast Member Named Clay To Line-Up

'Nashville' Season 5 Spoilers: CMT Adding New Male Cast Member Named Clay To Line-UpNashville is currently in production for Season 5, after being cancelled by ABC and being picked up by CMT. It will also not begin airing until January 5th 2017, instead of being added to the Fall Premiere Lineup. Producers and writers continue to work with the CMT network on changing the show, and revamping the country music drama.

Nashville fans are going to be a bit shocked with the new season because Connie Britton (Rayna James) has asked for her role to be reduced and the the series will be adding a transgender woman to the cast, Jen Richards will be playing the part of someone important in Juliette Barnes’ life (Hayden Panettiere). That isn’t the only role Nashville is looking to fill.

Nashville has already announced they have added Rihannon Giddens on recurring status as Hanna Lee “Hallie” Jordan. She will be appearing in at least three episodes. Nashville spoilers tease that the series also has a casting call for a lead male character named Clay. Clay is to be an African American man between the ages of 21 and 26, who must have a musical style that is “eclectic, with modern elements but also nods to roots Black music, Bluegrass, and even some classic Country.” Who do you think would be a good fit for the role of Clay?

Rumors had been confirmed that ABC cut ties with the series, when ABC’s new president Channing Dungey admitted that on many different levels the show was not a good fit for the network anymore. In the end, it was all about the money; money that ABC was not willing to spend.

Nashville fans were thrilled to hear that CMT would take the series and continue it on their network, but they also need to realize that since CMT is a much smaller network than ABC, there would be a lot of budget cuts and changes. One of those changes would include new fresh talent and possibly keeping Hayden Panettiere’s character in the hospital longer. With her character not performing it helps keep down the cost on things.
