TVLine reported that the battle round paired Kayleigh Mathews and Lillie Kolich for a performance of “Girl Crush” by Little Big Town. Both singers originally earned four-chair turns. Patti LaBelle served as their battle advisor. Queen Latifah chose Lillie as the winner. That decision sparked absolute chaos.

Kelly Clarkson slammed her button right away and interrupted host Carson Daly. Riley Green hit his button too. A frantic pitch battle started immediately.

Clarkson’s Argument

Clarkson argued during her pitch, “Kayleigh, you have such a huge presence. But your range is incredible.”

TV Insider reported that “Clarkson and Green both pushed their buttons to Steal her. The coaches then had to fight it out for Kayleigh to pick them.”

The outlet cited Kelly Clarkson as saying: “Remember when you thought you were going home, the feeling you felt when you were like, ‘Oh my God, she picked me.’ He didn’t push his button. I pushed first.”

Clarkson continued, “I have won a competition. I promise you. I can do it. I think you should pick me.”

Country Rebel reported that “The other coaches agreed and told their coach that they didn’t envy her having to choose between Lillie and Kayleigh. Ultimately, Queen Latifah chose to move forward in the competition with Lillie Kolich.”
