As Season 27 of The Voice nears its grand finale this May, fans won’t have to wait long for what’s next.
NBC has confirmed the return of the beloved singing competition, and Season 28 is already stirring buzz—not just for its comeback, but for the intriguing shakeups waiting in the wings.
A Coaching Shake-Up with Familiar Favorites
The iconic red chairs will see some rotation as a trio of music stars step in, while a familiar face stays put. John Legend, Kelsea Ballerini, and Adam Levine—who returned for Season 27 after a long run from Seasons 1 through 16—are making way for new-old voices on the coaching panel.
Returning to The Voice for his third consecutive season is Michael Bublé. Fresh off his Season 26 win and a strong showing in Season 27, Bublé seems to have found his rhythm on the show.
Known for his charismatic presence and playful backstage stories—including those Taylor Swift dance parties with his daughters—he’s not just coaching; he’s enjoying the ride.
Joining him are Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, and Snoop Dogg—each with their history on the show and a fanbase to match.
Reba McEntire, a country legend and The Voice Season 25 champion, will be reclaiming the country crown from Kelsea Ballerini. McEntire’s roots with the show run deep, stretching back to Season 1 as a Battle Advisor and appearing again as a Mega Mentor in Season 23.
Niall Horan, the former One Direction heartthrob who led Gina Miles to victory in Season 23, is also back. After stepping away during Season 25 due to touring commitments, he’s ready to reclaim his red chair and guide a new wave of talent.
Snoop Dogg, who first made waves as a coach in Season 26, rounds out the Season 28 crew.
After a brief hiatus in Season 27, he’s ready to dive back in. “It’s been a great experience for me,” he told Carson Daly. “I didn’t know what I was signing on to, but I do know it feels like I could come back and do it again.”
Snoop also opened up about his return during a May 2024 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he said, “Well, if you know anything about me, you know I love all forms of music. So this is a great opportunity for me to show that I really understand music and to be a real Coach. And to really give direction to some of these Artists that could be, you know, today’s next big thing.”
Carson Daly Still at the Helm—and a New Airing Strategy
While the coaching panel gets a refresh, one constant remains: Carson Daly. The longtime host has been with The Voice since the very beginning and will continue steering the ship into its 28th season.
There’s also a noticeable shift in the show’s broadcast schedule. Season 28 is slated to debut in September with back-to-back episodes airing on both Mondays and Tuesdays. But that won’t last for long. Once NBC’s NBA coverage kicks in, The Voice will pivot to a single-night weekly format.
Initially, Mondays will deliver extended two-hour episodes. As fall comedies like St. Denis Medical and The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins make their premieres, The Voice will scale back to one-hour installments.
However, the NBA schedule isn’t fully locked in, meaning there’s still a chance the show could return to Tuesday slots in December.
What to Expect
With an all-star cast of coaches, a revamped airing structure, and a legacy of discovering powerhouse vocalists, Season 28 promises to be a must-watch.
Whether you’re team Reba, rooting for Niall, vibing with Snoop, or swooning over Bublé, this new chapter of The Voice aims to blend experience, mentorship, and star power like never before.
One thing’s for sure: the competition will be fierce, the stories inspiring, and the music unforgettable.
