Scandal Fan Fave Scott Foley Scores Presidential Role On New Show

It has been eight years since we had to say goodbye to the cast of Scandal on ABC, but one fan fave is making a political comeback.

This time around Scott Foley won’t be playing an intelligence officer like Jake Ballard, he’s playing The President!  Keep reading for all of the details.

Scandal Star Makes Political Comeback

Scott Foley was a fan fave on Scandal for seven years when he played the part of one of Olivia Pope’s love interests.

Foley booked a few leads since Scandal ended on shows like Whiskey Cavalier and The Big Leap.  But, they never were renewed for a second season.

More recently Scott Foley appeared on Will Chase as Dr. Seth, but that role came to a sad end.  In 2026 the Scandal alum also appeared as Malcolm on the series It’s Not Like That.  Now, he can add another new series to his resume!

Scott Foley Returns To The White House

Hulu just announced a new political series coming soon to the streaming app, appropriately titled “Young Americans.”  According to press releases, Foley will be playing the President!

The official teaser for the new political drama reads, “As the children of the nation’s elite battle it out at Capitol Crest Academy in Washington, D.C., their teenage dramas begin to mirror the larger political games of their parents. Amidst the secrets, scandals, and deadly ambitions, a forbidden romance between two students from opposing political families threatens to escalate tensions to a breaking point.”

The former Jake Ballard portrayer will be playing the part of  President Judd Burchfield.  According to TV Line spoilers, Foley’s new character is “a principled politician who rose to office by trusting his heartland instincts.”

The site goes on to tease, “His steady hand has been shaken by the tragic death of his firstborn daughter. As he struggles to hold his family and the country together, an old political rivalry is about to become deeply personal.”
