Jerry Bruckheimer Confirms That Work Has Started On the Sixth Installment of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’

Jerry Bruckheimer is spilling the beans, literally. In his chat with Deadline at Disney’s D23, the producer behind ‘Top Gun’ enthusiastically shared that things are starting to move forward with another installment of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean.’

He revealed, “we’re talking with Johnny [Depp], we’re working on a screenplay, and hopefully we can get this done.”

In addition to this, Deadline was able to confirm through multiple sources that the Margot Robbie-led idea has not exactly been dumped yet.

So it’s likely this new franchise, whilst seeing Depp’s Jack Sparrow return, will likely be the launch Margot Robbie needs to earn her captain feathers.

This is probably a move to revitalize the franchise, which had grown stale by the time the fifth installment ‘Dead Men Tell No Tales,’ rolled in. ‘

Bruckheimer had previously teased Disney’s plans to relaunch the franchise with Margot Robbie in 2025.

“We’re working on a script. It’s always on the page; if we don’t have it on the page, it’s not gonna get on the screen,” Bruckheimer told The Wrap at the time, adding: “We had two scripts at one point, and then one kinda dropped out, and then we kinda went on with the other one.”
