David Burke, AKA d4vd was arrested for allegedly murdering Celeste Rivas Hernandez, and the information that emerges grows more horrifying by the day. In fact, if found guilty, he could even face the death penalty. This weekend, the subject remained in the news.

Brian Summarized The Details

Brian Entin took a bit of a break from the Nancy Guthrie case and returned to the true crime case involving the teen who was found dismembered in the Tesla registered to d4vd. Like so many other reporters, he warned folks that the details are absolutely gruesome.

We already reported how the jury might find it difficult to see and listen to the evidence. Actually, the burn cage and the tools reportedly used to dismember the 14-year-old child bring terrible pictures into the minds of true crime followers.

When court documents suggested that the R&B singer brutally chopped up his younger lover up in a kiddie pool, it became too much for some people. For the benefit of those not in the know, Brian went over the details, and even his solid delivery couldn’t hide the horror of it all.

Can The Defense Challenge The Prosecution?

The interesting part of the monologue came after Brian reminded folks that prosecutors believe d4vd killed Celeste Rivas Hernandez because she threatened his career.

He brought in reporter Lauren Conlin to discuss what angle the defense team could take to prove his innocence. If you don’t know, his attorneys seem positive that they will clear his name.

Well, it’s mostly speculation, but Lauren did talk about being at the court. The duo discussed how there might be questions the defense could use over the original medical examiner’s report that didn’t point to stabbing as the cause of death. So, perhaps the defense could use that.

Alternatively, with the newer finding that Celeste was stabbed, there could be an angle taken that she died from something else, and the knife would come in when d4vd tried to get rid of the body.

Reasonable Doubt On Murder?

Lauren discussed the possibility a bit more, that the prosecution has to prove intent for murder. If the defense can cast reasonable doubt on how Celeste died, that could work. After all, there were thoughts that she might have died from an overdose.

The defense could argue the dismemberment was improper disposal of a body. Notably, that’s not the same as murder. But what about the tools that the suspect purchased?

Proving Intent

Lauren pointed out that the chainsaw and other purchases show premeditation of disposal, but not necessarily premeditation of murder. That’s the loophole the defense could drive a truck through. After all, d4vd could have “freaked out” and in a panic tried to get rid of the body of a girl he didn’t kill.

Of course, it only takes one member of the jury to buy that argument. What nobody knows is whether other folks saw or knew about a murder. But as Lauren noted, “you have to tell one person,” so maybe that explains why the family fought so hard against appearing before a grand jury.

No Witnesses To The Crime?

Actually, it’s not known at this time, if there is a witness. In fact, the duo discussed that so far, all of the evidence against the singer seems to be based “on forensics.”

No disrespect to a young girl who died, but this is truly going to be an interesting true crime case to follow. If David Burke did everything that he’s accused of, then psychologists will be discussing it for many years to come.
