90 Day Fiancé’s Corey Rathgeber said that Evelin Villegas was detained after landing in the USA this week. For years, TLC fans watched drama play out, and it seems that they attract it like a return spring. Read on for more details.

Corey took to his Instagram on Wednesday, and shared a reel of them walking towards the immigration desks at the airport.
Evelin seemed on edge because she told him she wanted her “credit card” just in case of problems.
Was it a throwback reel from 90 Day Fiance? Well, apparently not. Initally.
That’s because Corey Rathgeber also wrote a caption. In it, he said, “Evelin was taken by officers moments after landing in USA.”
Then he added, “It’s a terrifying experience.”
Not A Customs Issue
It doesn’t seem to be customs issue although the reel mentioned they were separated at “customs.”
Right now, it seems more like an immigration problem for the 90 Day Fiance star.
Corey said, “I’m told she can be kept for days and sent back to Ecuador”
Confirming it seems current, he then noted, “I appreciate everyone for their concerns. I’ll keep you all updated.”
Previous Issues
Over the years, Corey and Evelin faced a lot of problems. Their relationship always seemed like a mess. He returned stateside alone back in March 2023. That came after four years in Ecuador.
Evelin stayed behind. That same year, rumors said she had a ten year ban for overstaying a tourist visa.
We reported that Corey brushed those rumors off online. But the couple also got caught hiding their 2019 marriage from show producers. Not a great look.
Her immigration problems just kept going. Evelin confirmed in May 2023 that she still worked on the paperwork to move to America.
Finally Getting A Visa
No visa approval came through. Just waiting. Updates finally said her visa got approved in late 2025, years after all the delays.
Then came the latest surprising update.
You cannot make this stuff up. She waited years. Corey waited years. And now she might get sent back. Right now it sounds like a nightmare.
However, it seems a bit questionable. After all, they filmed for the 2026 Season 7 of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, in the “More to Love” spin-off.

The couple were never Mr and Mrs popular on 90 Day Fiance. And some folks noted Evelin Villegas posted on social media since the detention.
One person wrote, “It’s like the tv show but ig. They’re keeping you in suspense! Lol.”

- It’s a bit confusing to have a present tense description for a past event. It makes it seem like she’s currently detained when that doesn’t appear to be the case?

Currently True Or Nah?
For now. it seems that while Corey promised updates, some followers questioned whether the post was teasing a storyline rather than documenting a current problem.
