Prince Harry may have just thrown King Charles and Prince William a curveball that they might possibly find hard to navigate.
You know that Invictus Games happening in 2027, which, obviously, is so far out, but seems near enough for Prince Harry to use as a peace offering?
Yup, a source close to him recently revealed that he means his invite – an early one at that – to the sporting event to serve as his show of good sportsmanship, in hopes it might bear the fruits of reconciliation. But will William and Charles play ball?
Royal Expert Weighs In On Why Prince Harry’s Latest Offer May Be A Harder One To Turn Down
When Prince Harry returned to the UK last year to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Invictus Games, King Charles and Prince William were notably absent.
They were otherwise engaged and could not make it, or so the record shows. This time around, Harry is determined that his next Invictus Games in the UK will not be a completely royal-free one.
Per a source, “Harry has agreed that Invictus should extend an invitation to his family. Invictus hopes the Royal Family will come along to support the wounded veterans taking part.
Harry is hopeful his father will set aside their differences to attend the Invictus Games and support veterans.
The Royals have always been hugely supportive of Invictus and proud of what Harry has achieved in that arena. This is one olive branch from him which might be reciprocated.”
Mind you, we’re still in the middle of the Royal rift and Harry just informed us last month that his father isn’t picking his calls. So why would he honor this invitation?
News.com.au’s Royal Correspondent, Bronte Coy believes the monarch would for this one reason.
Coy said: “I think this is such a difficult one, I’ve given this one a lot of thought. There’s a lot of sympathy, understanding and respect for the King’s and William’s position because I think anyone can relate that if you’ve been spoken about publicly, and had your personal issues with family members aired in that way, of course you would be angry.”
“And of course, you’d be well within your right to shut it down and cut him off because there’s no trust,” she noted, adding, “But it’s in the UK and you’re talking about the military community of which the royals are very, very, very entwined. You do run the risk of looking a little bit petty if they don’t go and support it, given their position in supporting the military community.”
“I think it’s going to particularly complicated and something that is going to be discussed a lot in the palace.”
Yeah, the Birmingham NEC event might be one Harry invite Charles and William may find hard to turn down, even though the opening ceremony July 12, 2027 clashes with Queen Camilla’s 80th birthday.
