The newest season of Life After Lockup returned with all the chaos that fans expect. Premiering on August 1, 2025, on WEtv, Season 7 continues to follow former inmates and their partners as they live life after prison. Is it still worth watching?
The Couples & Their Drama
One of the most talked-about couples this season involves Brooke and JK from Aquilla, Texas. Brooke’s mysterious pregnancy test results left fans speculating about their future. On Reddit, some folks threw barbed accusations, slamming her behavior.

This weekend, an OP wrote:
This is a grown female leaving her kids at her mom’s house to spend time with a man she’s trying to get pregnant by…BUT YOUR TWO KIDS ARE AT YOUR MOM’S CRIB.., and you and this grown man sc**wing at his mom’s house..omfggggg Go home and raise your kids BROOKE.”
Another couple making waves involves Will and Courtnee from Sacramento, California. After marrying just one day after Courtnee’s release, their relationship took a nosedive when she was re-arrested.
On social media WEtv fans seem divided on Will’s motivations. Some people call him a hopeless romantic, while others accuse him of having “a savior complex.” Either way, their storyline might be the most unpredictable at this stage.
The Love Triangle
Then, there’s the messy love triangle involving Quiana, Damodrick, and Jawalia in Lubbock, Texas. Jawalia’s constant interference and Damodrick’s wavering turned their storyline into what Reddit users are calling “the most exhausting drama of the season.”

One viewer opined, “He is a loser but I don’t feel sorry for these women at all. They know what he is but they keep fighting over him.”
Justine and Michael from Las Vegas are also back, this time planning a lavish wedding despite financial strain from raising nine children. Michael’s aspirations of becoming a rapper drew criticism with many viewers labeling his dreams as unrealistic.

Meanwhile, LaTisha and Keith from Davenport, Iowa, struggle with the realities of post-prison life. Keith’s difficulty adjusting to responsibilities puts a strain on their relationship. So, fans predict an imminent breakup.
Still Worth Watching?
Beyond the individual drama, some people claim they start feeling franchise fatigue. After all, they seem to be stuck on a monotonous treadmill, with relapses, love triangles, and financial woes becoming too repetitive.
Still, the show remains a guilty pleasure for many folks, with viewers tuning in weekly to see which couple will self-destruct next.
Despite some critics and apparently lower levels of interest this year, Life After Lockup does deliver the messy, addictive content that reality TV fans crave.
For those looking to catch up, new episodes air Fridays at 8 p.m. ET on WEtv. Streaming options include Philo (which offers a 7-day free trial), AMC+ ($6.99/month), and DirecTV Stream (5-day free trial).
