Y&R Spoilers: What Is Ashland’s Future In Genoa City?

The Young And The Restless: Ashland Locke (Robert Newman)The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) made himself the target of everyone in Genoa City, Wisconsin. However, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) still loves him, and that matters.

Will Ashland and Victoria reconcile and remarry? Maybe.

But buzz about Ashland being killed off persists. So, is that the more likely option, considering the high-profile hire of Newman when TPTB recast the Ashland roll on Y&R?

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Robert Newman’s Seamless Fit

Newman is a daytime legend. He portrayed Josh Lewis on the legendary, deeply loved Guiding Light from 1980 through its final episode in 2009.

Newman moved across the country to California for this role, agreeing to join the cast of daytime’s reigning scripted ratings leader. His stint has not proved to be for a brief appearance to complete the run that Richard Burgi (Ashland) started last year.

The February debut allowed for Victoria and Ashland’s arc to retain continuity. Newman’s presence has offered a different take with this character’s reveal happening. Solid scripts and a seamless fit into the cast allowed the switch to be a success.

Y&R Spoilers – Victoria Newman Locke Again?

Victoria has moved past Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson). Ashland’s move from New York to GC set the stage for that to happen.

Hardcore viewers know that breaking the cycle with Billy was a significant step for Heinle’s character. She returned to that rut following the revival with J.T. Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill) that ended badly in 2019.

It is reasonable to believe that a scorned Ashland could redeem himself in Victoria’s eyes. Their chemistry, both in the script and on-screen, would easily allow this reconciliation to be plausible and have legs.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Longterm Plan Verses Shorter Term Resolution

If the plan was to write Ashland into a revenge murder story, where one of his enemies knocks him off, then Newman was cast for a short-term stay. However, that stay could play well into this year.

But the recast offers an unexpected opportunity that was not visible when Burgi was initially hired. Newman is a game-changer. He has a fan base who will watch this show because he is on it. That has to be part of whatever decisions are made.

A murder story can still play out. But maybe it is just an attempt that Ashland survives or orchestrates, like Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters), with his return to life not including a long gap, if any at all.

So, whatever Ashland’s future, here is hoping he lives a long life in GC.
