Alec Baldwin Could Have Fired Gun In ‘Rust’ Shooting Without Pulling Trigger

Alec BaldwinPolice investigators, who recently performed an informal experiment, concluded that Alec Baldwin’s claim that he didn’t pull the trigger in the Rust shooting is plausible.

One of the claims that have come out of the Rust shooting incident that ended in the death of Halyna Hutchins was made by actor Alec Baldwin who has stated that he “didn’t pull the trigger” on that fateful day. But now, according to Entertainment Weekly, police may have lent some veracity to the Drunk Parents star’s claim. Continue reading and we’ll give you the low down.

DA Says ‘You Can Pull The Hammer Back Without Actually Pulling The Trigger’

During a recent ABC News interview, Baldwin told George Stephanopoulos that he pulled back the hammer but “didn’t pull the trigger” on the prop gun that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, even though he had been pointing the weapon in her direction. Now, new details have come out of the ongoing investigation that may lend credulity to Baldwin’s claim.

Per Vanity Fair, Santa Fe County District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies said her team conducted an informal experiment that lends credulity to Baldwin’s claim that he didn’t pull the trigger. After the experiment, Carmack-Altweis said, “You can pull the hammer back without actually pulling the trigger and without actually locking it.” It is still unclear what the DA intends to do with the information obtained from the experiment.

Investigators Considering Multiple Factors

The accidental shooting occurred on October 21, 2021, at the Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe New Mexico. Also injured that day was Rust director Joel Souza, though he survived his injuries. Halyna Hutches died after being airlifted to the University of New Mexico Hospital.

According to Entertainment Weekly, investigators are looking into numerous factors that may have contributed to the incident. Hutchins family has launched multiple lawsuits against Baldwin as well as other Rust crew members.

Halyln Hutchins’ Family Claims ‘If They Only Held Sacrosanct Their Duty’ Haylyn Hutchin Would Be Alive

According to the Hutchins family complaint obtained by People, “Halyna deserved to live.” The complaint furth claimed that Halyna’s death would never have happened “if they only held sacrosanct their duty to protect the safety of every individual on a set where firearms were present,” instead of “rushing to stay on schedule and ignoring numerous complaints of safety violations.”

According to EW, Baldwin’s attorney Aaron Dyer responded to the claims saying that “any claim that Alec was reckless is entirely false.”

“This lawsuit seeks justice for the losses of [Halyna’s] survivors and to hold responsible those who caused her tragic death.” Be sure to stay apprised of the Rust/Baldwin situation and return here often for more spoilers, news, and updates.
