Royal Family News: Prince Philip Health Fears Grow After Prince Charles Visits Hospital

Prince PhilipBritish royal family news shows that after being hospitalized for days with an undisclosed condition, Prince Philip today received his first royal visitor, his son Prince Charles.

Charles went this afternoon to see his father and it is reported that the visit was made under, “exceptional circumstances” in accordance with the King Edward VII Hospital’s COVID-19 guidelines.

Royal Family News – Prince Philip Remains In The Hospital

Prince Philip is 99-years old and his exact condition has not been made public. The Duke of Edinburgh was admitted for non-emergency treatment on Tuesday evening and will remain until next week as a “precautionary measure.”

He is said to be, “in good spirits,” and Charles’s visit led fans to speculate about all manner of things on social media. For one thing they wonder if the visit is in keeping with Covid-19 restrictions.

The hospital’s guidelines say visits are only permitted, “in exceptional circumstances.”

The hospital website states, “Please attend hospital alone to avoid crowding and limit the number of people entering the building. In exceptional circumstances, you may be permitted a visitor or escort. If you think you fit into this category then please give us a call to discuss.”

On the other hand the Government also has guidelines around “compassionate visits” including hospital visits during lockdown. According to them, “You may also leave home to visit someone who is dying or someone in a care home (if permitted under care home guidance), hospice, or hospital, or to accompany them to a medical appointment.”

Such language has prompted concern among royal fans who now wonder just how serious Philip’s condition is. Buckingham Palace has not commented on Charles’ visit to his father, but the news has sparked fears for the Duke of Edinburgh’s health.

Royal Family News – How Is Prince Philip Doing?

Daily Express royal correspondent Richard Palmer tweeted: “Prince Charles is visiting his father the Duke of Edinburgh at the King Edward VII’s Hospital in London.”

In response royal expert Marlene Koenig tweeted: “that is not good, although I hope not.”

Royal fans were not quite as dour as Koenig, with one tweeting: “I hope Prince Philip is alright.”

One tweeted, “Should we read too much into this considering and please correct me if I’m wrong but I thought visitors weren’t allowed, and another wrote: “Well that’s not good – cos of Covid aren’t visits banned unless life is coming to end?”
