Kate Middleton Torn Between Family And Queen Elizabeth: Here’s Why!

Kate Middleton Kate Middleton finds herself between a royal rock and a hard place with regard to her duty to her family versus to Queen Elizabeth. And that choice becomes even more challenging at Christmas. Should the Duchess of Cambridge spend more time with her husband Prince William and their three children? Or will Kate feel compelled to do her duty to her royal mother-in-law, the Queen, and favor Her Royal Highness? And what about her own family, including her mom Carole?

A royal family insider recently offered a glimpse of the Duchess of Cambridge’s holiday obligations. Learn more about how and why Kate feels so torn each Christmas below.

Kate Middleton Wants To Please Everyone

The Duchess of Cambridge has developed a reputation as a woman who wants to please everyone. But at the holidays, living up to that reputation brings new challenges, according to royal family expert Katie Nicholl per the Sun. Kate Middleton has even experimented with different ways to satisfy her husband and kids, the Queen and the rest of the royal family, and the Middletons.

After the Duchess of Cambridge and Duke of Cambridge married, they decided to go to Christmas with the royal family one year, then celebrate the holidays with the Middletons the following year, revealed Katie. “In the early years of being a family, they did try to alternate Christmas, one year with The Queen and the Royal Family and the next year with the Middletons. But Kate and William put duty before self and we can see that, more now than ever.”

How Kate Middleton Has Sacrificed Herself

Torn between her own family versus the royal family, the Duchess of Cambridge has ended up sacrificing herself for her husband’s clan. As a result, Kate and her husband Prince William have changed their priorities in recent years. Now, the Duchess and Duke make their priority devoting their full Christmas Day to staying at Sandringham with the Queen. And that means missing out on the Middleton family’s holiday celebration.

“There is a sacrifice on Kate’s part because Christmas is a very big thing for the Middleton family, but they put The Queen first and make sure they are there on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at Sandringham,” shared the royal family expert. But the Duchess of Cambridge makes certain that her royal children don’t get impacted by her own sacrifice.

Kate’s and Prince William’s children Prince Louis, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte run the risk of getting totally spoiled at Christmas! First, the Duchess of Cambridge’s children celebrate Christmas with their great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royal family. And then, after that celebration, Kate takes her children to visit with her own family to get presents from the Middletons.

In addition to giving her time to her royal relatives, Kate makes sure to plan special gifts for everyone. For instance, the Duchess of Cambridge made a special jar of homemade chutney for her first Christmas at Sandringham with the queen. Royal family expert Duncan Larcombe called this gift “absolutely spot on – down to earth, practical and frugal – everything Her Majesty loves.”
