Best New Characters of 2021– Chanel And Paulina On Days Of Our Lives

Days Of Our Lives: Paulina Price Chanel DupreeDays of Our Lives, like any other soap, is put in a hit-or-miss situation any time it introduces a new character. They will either catch on or not. Sometimes, it’s a matter of whether they are already connected to someone established on the canvas. Other times, it all has to do with the acting, and still other times, it’s the writing and dialogue that make a character a hit. In the case of two new DOOL characters, Paulina Price and her daughter, Chanel Dupree, it was all three in 2021.

Days Of Our Lives – Scores A Casting Coup

Landing Jackee Harry, the primetime sensation with the comedic flair who got her start on NBC soaps as Lily Mason on Another World in the 1980s, was definitely a casting coup for Days of Our Lives. No matter who she would play, the character was sure to stand out. We thought she would just be making a guest appearance for a few weeks but were pleasantly surprised when she was brought back as a contract player and given a daughter.

Not only did Paulina bring family to town, she arrived to visit her niece, Lani Price (Sal Stowers), and meet Lani’s infant twins. That connection established her in Salem and she eventually became as soapy as could be when it turned out she was Lani’s mother and not her aunt — after she had already fallen in love with perpetual town good guy and mayor, Abe Carver.

DOOL Spoilers – Gets It Right With Chanel Dupree

Although there was nothing wrong with Precious Way, the actress first hired to play Paulina’s daughter, Chanel Dupree, when Raven Bowens took over the role, she made it her own, made Chanel more human and a bit more mature to fit in with Salem’s young adult/early 20s scene. Having Chanel and Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) develop feelings for one another they refused to act on after being best friends during their rich girl, European adventure days, just made her all the more human.

Together, Paulina and Chanel can be a hilarious laugh riot with their snarky Salem observations and one-liners or they can give us all the feels with their very real mother-daughter connection and relationship. Stay tuned to Days of Our Lives weekdays to see what these two characters bring in 2022.
