As those who have watched General Hospital for a long time know, Jason and Carly have had an interesting relationship. Jason was the one who helped get Carly out of a mental institution after she shot Tony Jones (Brad Maule). Jason practically raised Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) until Carly married A.J. Quartermaine (Sean Kanan. During all this time that Jason was bonding with Michael, Carly kept trying to get close to Jason romantically. However, Jason was with Robin Scorpio-Drake (Kimberly McCullough) at first, and then Carly went off and slept with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).

The bottom line is that Jason and Carly apparently kept trying to get together but their timing was always off. That and Carly slept around. A lot. In fact, it was because Carly slept with Sonny that Jason ended up leaving town. He was so angry that he told Carly they would not ever be together!

Jason’s words notwithstanding, it’s clear that the mafia hitman cares for Carly. In fact, it’s likely that he’s always cared for. GH fans know that even though Jason was furious that Carly slept with Sonny life really changed for him. Now, as everyone knows, Sonny is Jason’s best friend and Jason’s relationship with Carly has become one of deep friendship.

The problem is that emotional ties, even if they were forged many years before are hard to break. Sometimes attraction lingers. This doesn’t always occur for both individuals. GH fans may agree that sometimes one person may feel a tug at his or her heartstrings and the other doesn’t … particularly after a long period of time.

Still, when GH fans saw the intensity of the interaction between Carly and Jason not that long ago, there were some jumping out of their seats screaming “they’re gonna have an affair!”

There are a few things that GH fans need to consider here. First, Jason’s heart is still all tied up with his ex-wife, Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco). Secondly, there is a lot of research that shows when two people are equally attractive; they may get together in the beginning. However, the longer they know one another but do not forge a relationship; they mutually place the other person into the friend-zone category.

In other words, it may not matter that Jason and Carly have a history together. They may see one another as special people and they may actually love one another. However, neither will allow it to progress to a point where they become lovers.

Many GH fans may agree that this is a good thing since no one wants a falling out between Sonny and Jason. That would just be scary.
