General Hospital Spoilers: Could Obrecht Actually Plead Guilty Just To Keep Maxie And Her Grandson In Her Life?

General Hospital: Dr. Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati)General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest that Dr. Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) may decide to do “whatever it takes” in order to remain in the lives of the only people she calls family. GH fans know that in recent episodes it became clear that Obrecht’s daughter-in-law, Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) suggested that Obrecht could remain in she and her son’s life if Obrecht pleaded guilty to the charges against her.

General Hospital Spoilers – Obrecht Rots in Jail

Rotting in jail can’t be fun for anyone. Obrecht is no exception. GH fans know that Dr. Liesl Obrecht has been framed by Peter August (Wes Ramsey) for the murder of Drew Cain (Billy Miller), and for the attempted murder of Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth). That’s the key thing here. Obrecht has been framed. Obrecht knows it, the Port Charles district attorney, Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) knows it, and of course, Peter knows it. It can’t be easy then for Obrecht to be sitting in jail knowing that she is innocent.

It also cannot be easy for Obrecht to know that she is innocent and have virtually every person in her life turn his or her backs on her. From Franco, who Liesl considers to be her only good friend, to Maxie, to her own daughter, Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) … all came to visit and all said goodbye in short order. It seems quite harsh that absolutely no one seems able to give Obrecht the benefit of the doubt.

Part of that may be because many of these GH characters seem to be operating on pure emotion rather than sitting there and logically thinking things through. That may be why Mac Scorpio is actually on Obrecht’s side on this issue. As a former spy and law enforcement agent, Scorpio is able to separate emotion from fact. GH fans ought to note that Scorpio isn’t falling over himself to be friends with Liesl. However, Scorpio is willing to put his emotions aside long enough to think about what is … and what isn’t … based on the evidence.

GH Spoilers – Liesl Obrecht Breaks Down

Now, GH viewers know that Obrecht has a hard time ahead for her. Scorpio let her know recently that she is due to be released from jail in Port Charles only to be transferred to a holding facility in the Hague. Presumably, this would be to try Obrecht in an international court for her crimes. Since this was to be the last day before Obrecht’s transfer, Maxie Jones came by to confront her mother-in-law and to get some kind of closure.

Again, although Obrecht begged rather pathetically for Maxie to believe that she is innocent, Maxie steadfastly refused. Out of what appeared to be a misplaced sense of pity, Maxie suggested that Obrecht should plead guilty and throw herself on the mercy of the court. Perhaps Obrecht might receive some kind of leniency and a lighter sentence. To put the icing on the cake, Maxie hinted that this could be a way that Obrecht could “own up” to her crimes and perhaps remain relevant in the life of Obrecht’s grandson, James West (Owen and Curtis Rufca). Maxie then coldly walked out leaving Obrecht a weeping heap on the floor.

General Hospital Spoilers – Liesl Obrecht Won’t Plead Guilty

Anyone who has watched General Hospital over the years knows that it is highly unlikely that Obrecht will plead guilty for crimes she didn’t commit. Dr. Liesl Obrecht is a fighter. It’s probably that Obrecht would rather fight to the death than to allow Peter August to remain victorious over her for long.

Viewers can expect that even if Obrecht is transferred to the Hague, she will find a way to vindicate herself and bring Peter August down in the process. In Obrecht’s mind at present, vengeance is the order of the day.
