Breaking Bad Movie Is In the Works With Creator Vince Gilligan At The Helm

“Breaking Bad” fans rejoice! According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Emmy award-winning drama creator Vince Gilligan is reportedly working on a two-hour movie extension.

The series debuted in AMC on 2008 and made its mark on the television landscape until 2013. Details are scarce at this point. There is still no news as to whether the movie will be aired on TV or shown in theaters. The people behind the movie are also silent regarding the cast. No one really knows if Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Anna Gunn, and Dean Norris, to name a few, will be back to take on their original roles in the series.

Nobody knows if it will be a spinoff, a prequel, or perhaps a continuation of the original series’ storyline. The show already has an existing prequel series “Better Call Saul,” which recently concluded its fourth season. It has been renewed for its fifth season, which is set to air next week.

So, here are the things that we do know. First, Vince Gilligan, who is also the film’s executive producer, is writing the script. He is also the co-creator and executive producer of the “Better Caul Saul.” Sources also revealed that the movie “will be set in the existing Breaking Bad franchise” and will begin filming in Mexico next month. The plot focuses on “the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom.” Those who are familiar with the hit TV series can surmise that it might be about Jesse Pinkman.

Bryan Cranston played the lead role Walter White in Breaking Bad. He was a chemistry teacher who started to manufacture meth after finding out that he was dying with cancer.

The TV series won the Emmys for Outstanding Drama Series twice and 14 other awards from the same prestigious awarding body. Fans will get to see the cast together again at the San Diego Comic-Con this summer as they celebrate the show’s 10th anniversary.
