‘Lane’ was an endearing and enduring couple on ‘The Young and the Restless’. As of today, Lily (Christel Khalil) and Cane (Daniel Goddard) live in relationship Limbo. Will they be able to save their marriage?
Of course both characters referenced can save the marriage. But the poll question doesn’t ask that easier question. The direct query is: Will they?
Lily is rightfully upset and uncertain. She gave Cane plenty of leeway after learning that Juliet (Laur Allen) was pregnant. Mrs. Ashby’s reaction was due, in part to her misguided connection with Joe (Scott Elrod) in the recent past.

Cane was able to forgive Lily and to help ‘Lane’ heal. That fact allowed Lily to remain open to the man she loved. But does she still love him enough to mentally overcome what’s happened?
So there was this business trip to Tokyo, Japan. Vickie (Amelia Heinle) sent Cane there in large part to pacify what she saw as his needy ego. Sloughing him off also allowed more one-on-one time with Billy (Jason Thompson). Yes, Vickie made the first mistake in this scenario, as she didn’t make a logical decision. It was brash and sassy. Wink.
From that point forward Cane was fully responsible for all of his actions up through and including transferring the bulk of his children’s school tuition fund to Jesse (Max Adler) the blackmailer. With whatever Juliet’s true motive was, or if she had none at all, Cane was responsible for allowing himself to drink too much on the fateful night after he bro-hugged Mr. Sato (Richard Narita). Willful inebriation furthered the event chain, plain and simple.
No one doubts, including Lily, that Cane would like to reclaim his family. It’s fully reasonable to believe that he’ll work toward that goal. But will Cane first be able to save his marriage?
Jordan (Darnell Kirkwood) has only become a viable threat because of everything Cane did. If Goddard’s character hadn’t totally spun out of control Lily is likely to have never considered Jordan as more than a friend. But she surely seems to now and that gives her an option.

More importantly, Cane’s second son will be delivered sometime after Christmas. That new life with impact ‘Lane’, if it’s still viable on that date.
