ITV Cancels Coronation Street Episodes For Upcoming Soccer MatchesIt looks like Coronation Street fans are going to be left wondering what happened to their beloved daytime soap next week as British network ITV is looking to pull the show off the air. New reports say that the network wants to cancel the Weatherfield drama temporarily because of a schedule change.

Apparently, ITV has decided to change their schedule in order to air two different soccer matches. One is England’s highly anticipated game against Malta and the other is a match against Slovakia. The national team is currently attempting to qualify for the 2020 World Cup.

This means that viewers will miss out on Coronation Street on Friday, September 1 and Monday, September 4. The soccer games are expected to begin at 7:15pm and end about 10pm local time.

Fortunately for Emmerdale fans, the show will stay on the air but it will be broadcast at a much earlier time at 6:45pm. Still, many viewers have already taken to social media to express their dismay over ITV’s decision to pull Coronation Street off the air, even if it’s just for two nights. One viewer tweeted: “Shouldn’t mess with TV soaps. Each time ITV move Coronation Street for the bloody football all hell breaks loose!”
