Coronation Street Spoilers: Pat Phelan’s Secret Daughter Arrives, Played By Feminist Activist Nicola Thorpe

Nicola Thorpe made headlines recently when she took to the news to fight her sexist job’s dress code. She started a campaign against discrimination as she thought it was not fair that she as a woman was forced to adhere to clothing rules that men were not. Most notably having to wear a high heeled shoe. An issue which caused her much grief as she was in fact sent home over the issue.

She made the excellent point that her shoes did not hinder her professional performance in any way. She was not alone in this issue as many women in the workplace are forced to wear certain things including make-up, skirts and dresses.

Her campaign quickly gained momentum with working women all over the country. She made a real difference as her time in the news forced large companies to review their dress codes or face large fines.

The 27-year-old seems to have not only political aspirations but also acting prospects. Nicola has been in cast in none other than Coronation street, a little better than a receptionist. Her new role will be names Nicola Rubenstein a social worker.

But it is her familial relations which will make her interesting as her Dad is none other than Pat Phelan the con man and murderer. And, he is not aware of his long-lost child’s existence. But will the young woman want to reconnect with her Dad? Especially if she finds out the truth about him. It will be quite the shock to the old man, could her arrival perhaps get him to change his ways and become a good man?

Will Nicola be more than Pat’s daughter? Hopefully the character will take after the actress herself and bring a strong female boss onto the cobbles. Could she potentially become a favourite of ours?
