'Youthful Daze' Exclusive Interview: Andrew de Burgh Discusses Role Of Sean Mercer, Dishes On New Movie 'Just One Drink' ‘Youthful Daze’ star Andrew de Burgh [Sean Mercer] took time to answer questions about the web-based drama series and his short film ‘Just One Drink.’ The actor/director’s current project is adapting the short film into a full-length thriller.

Andrew was born in Shrewsbury, a rural town in England but grew up all over the world. After living in France, the Netherlands, Spain and India Andrew came to the United States. Andrew attended Pepperdine University in Malibu, California majoring in Advertising with a minor in Theater.

After graduation from Pepperdine University in 2012 Andrew headed to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting and directing.

Before the interview started Soap Opera Spy asked Andrew what he would like people to know about him. Andrew believes in working hard, remaining humble, having empathy for others and being a good person. These are all important ingredients for living a good life.

At the moment, Andrew de Burgh is currently finishing up the latest draft of the feature script of the short film ‘Just One Drink.’ It’s an extended edition of the same story. Andrew plans to start pitching it soon to production companies in the very near future and would love to cast either Emilia Clarke or Emma Watson as the lead in the film.

Soap Opera Spy: What made you want to get into acting/directing?

Andrew: I initially started taking acting classes when I was 8 in England and did some plays when I was in Middle School. It wasn’t until 2005 however, when I saw ‘Batman Begins’ on the big screen that I knew I wanted to do this professionally. I was inspired by Christian Bale’s performance and Christopher Nolan’s direction and I knew after I walked out of the Theater that one day I wanted to recreate a similar level of cinematic excellence in my own work and inspire people the way I was inspired.

Soap Opera Spy: Tell us a little about ‘Youthful Daze’? Many people are just starting to hear about it.

Andrew: ‘Youthful Daze’ is a teen drama series centered around Drew Castle (Bryan James) and features several soap opera stars including Sean Kanan, Sarah Joy Brown, Eden Riegel, Melissa Archer, Bryan Dattilo and many more. It’s set in Calabasas and features several interesting plot lines!

Soap Opera Spy: Tell us everything about your character on Youthful Daze? Especially any juicy storylines you’ve enjoyed. Anything you hope will be written for Sean? What direction do you see your character going?

Andrew: I play Sean Mercer, a very wealthy Calabasas resident. He’s best friends with Drew (Bryan James) and at the start of the new season, he’s on the run for an accidental murder and is hiding at Zoey’s (Chrishell Stause) apartment. I really enjoyed my storyline with Zoey and Jimmy (Drew Garrett) as well as my storyline with Monica (Melissa Archer).

Soap Opera Spy: How did you feel the day you stepped foot onto the Youthful Daze set for the first time?

Andrew: The first day I stepped foot on the set of ‘Youthful Daze’, I was a very excited actor ready to work!

Soap Opera Spy: Who was the first co-star you met on the set of Youthful Daze?

Andrew: The first co-star I met was Bryan James, who I met a couple of days before shooting started. He is very friendly and passionate and made me feel welcome.  The first co-star I met on set was Sean Kanan, who I had grown up watching in ‘The Karate Kid, Part III’! He’s great to work with and is a very down to earth guy.

Soap Opera Spy: Which co-star made you the most nervous?

Andrew: I didn’t actually get nervous around any of my co-stars!

Soap Opera Spy: Which co-star do you hope to work with that you haven’t yet?

Andrew: To be honest, I’d be equally happy to work with all the actors that I didn’t have scenes with.

Soap Opera Spy: Tell us about your short film ‘Just One Drink’

Andrew: ‘Just One Drink’ is a short film that I had the pleasure of directing, writing, producing and acting in opposite ‘Hostel’ star Barbara Nedeljakova. It’s a dark psychological thriller film set in Hollywood and it tells the tale of a beautiful widow who uses Facebook to lure two young men to her gorgeous Hollywood apartment. Once the two young men arrive, a series of unexpected events ensue. It pays homage to classic revenge thrillers such as ‘The Hand That Rocks the Cradle,’ ‘Oldboy’ and ‘Fatal Attraction.’ I was very lucky with its success as it played at three international festivals and currently has three out of three positive critic reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

Soap Opera Spy: During your down time, what do you like to do? Hobbies?

Andrew: During my down time, I love to swim and watch soccer (I’m a massive fan of the British Premier League team Liverpool F.C.) I also love watching movies and playing videogames.

Soap Opera Spy: Is there anything on television you like to watch? What are your favorite shows? Favorite movies?

Andrew: I recently started watching ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ and would love to be in it one day! Other favorite shows of mine include ‘Arrow’, ‘Breaking Bad’, ‘Bates Motel’, ‘Lost’, ‘Prison Break’ and ’Curb Your Enthusiasm’. When it comes to favorite movies, my top 10 of all time are ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy, ‘Batman Begins’, ‘The Full Monty’, ‘Cinema Paradiso’, ‘Schindler’s List’, ‘Interstellar’, ‘The Godfather’ and ‘Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.’

After working with Sean Kanan on the set of ‘Youthful Daze’ maybe Andrew de Burgh will show up on ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ one of these days!
