Soap Opera Weekly Ratings April 4-8: ‘B&B’ Gains Total Viewers – ‘Y&R’ ‘GH’ And ‘DOOL’ Lose Viewers Across The Board

The soap opera weekly ratings for April 4 through April 8 show ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ gained overall viewers but lost them in the women 18-49 demographic.
‘The Young and the Restless, ‘General Hospital’ and ‘Days of Our Lives’ cannot seem to gain back viewers in the women 18-49 category either. While ‘B&B’ grew its total viewership, the other three soaps showed losses.
Days of Our Lives
Soap Opera Network reports that 2,258,000 total viewers tuned in to watch ‘DAYS.’ This is a loss of 22,000 total viewers for the week. For this week 402,000 women ages 18 to 49 demographic watched ‘DOOL.’ This represents a loss of 9,000 for the week of April 4-8.
General Hospital
Total views for ‘GH’ were down from the previous week. 2,800,000 total viewers were watching tuned in April 4 through April 8. Those numbers represent a loss of 18,000 viewers. When it comes to women in the 18-49 demographic the soap had 451,000 viewers. That’s a decrease of 26,000 in this demographic.
The Bold and the Beautiful
‘B&B’ had 3,880,000 total viewers last week. That represents a gain of 49,000 overall viewers for April 4 through April 8. The numbers show that 515,000 women ages 18 through 49 tuned out. That a loss of 25,000 viewers in that category.
The Young and the Restless
Total viewership was down by 46,000 with 5,069,000 people watching ‘Y&R’ last week. Soap Opera Network reports that the CBS daytime drama took the biggest hit in the women 18-49 demographic with a loss of 77,000 viewers.
What is the reason for the decrease for all four daytime dramas for women ages 18-14? Why did three soaps take hits in total viewers for the week of April 4-8?

Y & R almost lost me having Victors family turn against him. Victor always takes care of his family no matter what! Having Phillyss hook up with Billy is stupid too. Better get back on track or I’m done!
Y & R needs new writers and someone to plan out a workable storyline! Passkey is ruining it. They need to fix that ASAP. Phillys and Billy is a bad idea too. It stinks that they haven’t given Sage her baby back YET! That story showed no signs of ending when they suddenly killed the “doctor” and they hopped around the adoption fiasco! AND what is going to happen when they finally do give the baby back to Sage? (Nick’s daughter is the only one who won’t suffer when that happens!)
As for Victor, he plays with his family and pits them against each other. If he was all about his family, he would not have done some of the things he has done. He appears to take care of his family when it suits him and then holds it over their heads to force them to do something they don’t want to do! That is messed up!
Even though I am home I record the episodes. Then I have to force myself to watch. It has become very boring. I am no longer vested in any of the characters.
DOOL has been awesome with Abigail, Chad and Ben storyline. Now the only thing I can see what is wrong is that Days keeps getting rid of good cast members. That needs to stop. Getting rid of Sonny, Daniel, Will, now Eric. Eve is gone, and Belle and Shawn is going. This has caused a lot of lost viewers.
As far as Y&R, the storyline about the passkey didn’t make viewers happy. The storyline with Sully(Christian) needs to wrap it up, and have the baby return to Sage. I think they need new writers anyway.
Y&R – I am fed up with whiny, constant tears, helpless Summer. I want to shut the TV off every time that she is in a scene! The story-lines are old and have been played out over and over again. Fix the writing.
