‘General Hospital’ News: Rebecca Herbst Teases Brief Exit From ‘GH’ – Wasn’t Filming During Contract Negotiations

While everyone is excited that Rebecca Herbst has signed a new contract to continue playing the role of Liz Webber on ‘General Hospital‘, we all need to prepare to miss the character for a little while. Recent soap reports state that Herbst’s character will go MIA for a while on the canvas. This is due to the recent lengthy contract negotiations the actress had with show.
Earlier this year it was reported that Herbst and showrunners was having difficulty reaching a mutual agreement for the actress to continue with the soap. Rumors began circulating that she was contacted by Sony for a role on ‘Days of Our Lives’, possibly an Abigail Deveraux recast. There were no confirmation to this rumor, but recently Rebecca and TPTB at ‘General Hospital‘ were able to work out a deal.
Herbst shared with Soap Opera Digest that her character will take a brief hiatus. According to Rebecca, the writers had to stop writing for her character until an agreement was made. Herbst also shared that it is possible that she may not return to the studio for filming until the first week of April. While the show is trying their best to sprinkle the actress in here and there, there might be some difficulties with this because they already have the storylines mapped out. Herbst last taped an episode on March 8, this was five days before her contract expired.
