‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) News: Lachlan Buchanan Bumped Down To Recurring Status – Kyle Abbott Out Of Major Storylines

'The Young And The Restless' (Y&R) News: Lachlan Buchanan Bumped Down To Recurring Status - Kyle Abbott Out Of Major Storylines“The Young And The Restless” spoilers and rumors are teasing that Lachlan Buchanan is on his way out of the Y&R soap – and Kyle Abbott will be exiting.  It all started with a report from Daytime Confidential on October 26th claiming that Lachlan Buchanan had been fired and was leaving Y&R.  A few hours later Daytime Confidential posted an update, “The Young And The Restless” had confirmed to the site that Lachlan Buchanan had been bumped down to “recurring” status.

So, it looks like Jack Abbott’s son Kyle is going to be put on the backburner in Genoa City, and he will probably get as much or less screen time than Jill’s poor maid Esther.  Since Lachlan has been bumped down to “recurring status” – that means that TPTB at the CBS soap opera are not recasting the character (as of right now), they just really have no use for him on the canvas, nor do they have any major storylines lined up for him in the near future.

This is literally the fifth Kyle Abbott recast to pop up on “The Young And The Restless” – and not deliver the way the writers and producers had hoped.  Lachlan Buchanan was cast back in January 2015, and he played a huge part in the whole “Cabin Killer” mystery, and with his romance with Hunter King’s character.  It is unclear right now if the Y&R writers are even going to address Kyle Abbott’s absence, or send him out of town – or just let him fade in to Y&R cast oblivion.

I am SO HAPPY Kyle is gone from Y & R; forever, I hope. I just felt he was very young, and just did not “fit” with Summer. He had this very “cocky” attitude. I have watched Y & R since it first started and have seen a lot of “good matches and no so good matches”. Does this mean Summer is also going to be leaving? Have not seen her in a while. Thanks!

I never have been fond of his acting in this roll, but his is a real step up from the Kyle just before him. I will not miss him at all. Just like the character ‘Summer’ he had no job, didn’t go to school, made no contribution to society, what so ever. They are just two rich kids vegetating off their parent’s money. I can’t find that these two ‘Character’s add one thing to the storyline. Unless you want to count the times they get together and have sex. Woopee! Even that is like watching two cold, dead fish. All they do is take up space, use up valuable airtime and add nothing to the overall storyline. I do realize they are at the mercy of the writers.

As an openly gay man I feel that I can make this point . Nothing wrong with gay actors in straight roles(g.rickart) unless the actor (l. Buchanan)is so prissy and feminine that the character becomes a joke. Worst Kyle ever!
