'General Hospital' News: Rachel Ames Returns As Audrey March Hardy – Original GH Character From 1964!“General Hospital” spoilers tease that actress Rachel Ames is headed back to the ABC soap opera and will make her first appearance in Port Charles since 2012.  For those of you who aren’t familiar with Rachel – she plays the part of Elizabeth’s Grandmother, or “Gram,” – Audrey March Hardy.  Liz has mentioned her “Gram” in passing and made references to Audrey helping her with the kids – but she hasn’t actually gotten any screen time in a few years.

According to “General Hospital spoilers from this week’s edition of Soap Opera Digest, Rachel Ames will make her big return as Audrey March Hardy on Friday October 30th.  The magazine’s GH spoilers go on to say that Liz will do a scene with her “Gram,” and they will share a heartfelt moment discussing Liz’s wedding to Jake Doe, and then Audrey will give Liz a special gift.

Rachel Ames’ return to the ABC soap opera as Audrey March Hardy is actually a huge deal – Ames isn’t just Liz’s on-screen Grandma, the iconic actress is actually the only original GH cast member still appearing on the show.  Technically, she isn’t one of the very FIRST members of the ABC soap’s cast – but she is as close as it gets.  Rachel Ames made her debut as Audrey March Hardy back in 1964, and she was on contract with the daytime drama up until 2002.  Then she was bumped down to “recurring status” until 2007.  Since then, Audrey has made a few brief appearances – and she will be back on October 30th to make another!
