‘General Hospital’ News: John J York Talks the Return of Mac Scorpio to Port Charles

‘General Hospital’ (GH) fans were thrilled when Mac Scorpio [John J York] came back on the Port Charles character canvas – and it was even more exciting that he was dropped into a high-adventure investigation with his former sister-in-law Anna Devane [Finola Hughes].

We don’t get to see Mac that often, so the screen time with John J York is fantastic – it’s been more than six months since we last saw Mac and now he’s front and center. York told Soap Opera Digest that he had no clue what was coming and says, “I have no idea what the storyline is.”

The good news is, Mac will also get some face time in coming days with his niece Robin Scorpio [Kimberly McCullough] when she’s back in Port Charles for a bit before exiting the show alongside Patrick Drake [Jason Thompson] as Thompson migrates from GH to ‘The Young and The Restless.’

York also told SOD, “I’m thrilled to be working again.” So what’s in store for York and his former PCPD commissioner alter-ego Mac? It looks like the investigation that Mac and Anna have launched into dirty DA Paul Hornsby [Richard Burgi] will heat up in coming days.

Now that Anna is back from her mission to save Robin, she’ll meet with Mac who will tell her that while she was gone, he got the DNA results back. The lab ran a test comparing a blood sample from the body Paul claimed was Carlos Rivera [Jeffrey Vincent Parise] to Kyle Sloane [Robb Derringer].

You’ll remember Mac lifted Sloane’s toothbrush when they broke into his apartment and that paid off – now they know it was Sloane that Paul rushed into cremation. This prompts several questions that Mac and Anna will ponder soon.

First, did Paul know that it was Sloane’s body? Of course we all know that Paul knew and that’s why he had it cremated so rapidly – to cover up his murder of Sloane. But Anna and Mac have yet to discover this – they will have to infer the info since Paul was the only witness to the slaying.

Then there’s the matter of Carlos being alive which also negates the premise that the body is Carlos. Anna is certain that Carlos is alive, but Mac hasn’t seen him yet. In coming days, Mac and Anna will heat up the search for Carlos who is likely still lurking in Port Charles.

Paul told him to leave, but unless Carlos’ baby mama Sabrina Santiago [Teresa Castillo] agrees to go with him, Carlos will likely still be in town which means Anna may yet get a chance to slap cuffs on him. GH spoilers indicate that Anna and Mac may bring the Jerome hitman to justice.

Look for Mac to possibly also work with new PCPD Chief Jordan Ashford [Vinessa Antoine]. Soon, Anna will come clean to Jordan about shooting Carlos and since Jordan already suspects Paul of chicanery, we could see Mac, Anna and Jordan team up to take down the devious DA.
