'All My Children' News: Alum Alicia Minshew’s Movie 'Desires of the Heart' Garners International Attention – Released In Theaters Throughout India“All My Children” (AMC) alum Alicia Minshew (Kendall Hart Slater) shared some great news with fans. Alicia’s new movie “Desires of the Heart” opened in theaters all over India on Friday, November 6. The film premiered at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.

“Desires of the Heart” revolves around Dr. Kris Sharma (Val Lauren), a psychiatrist from India with a practice in Savanah, Georgia. Dr. Sharma meets Madeline (Alicia Minshew) an artist with a mysterious past. The unlikely couple begins to build a romantic relationship when Kris is called back to India by his brother – it is time for Sharma to marry the woman his family has chosen for him. Centuries old secrets affect many of Kris’s decisions and he realizes these secrets may seal his fate.

The film has received critical attention from all over the globe. “Desires of the Heart” took home the award for Best Foreign Film at the LA Femme International Film Festival in 2013. The movie was also an Official Selectin at the LA Femme International Film Festival 2013, Macon Film Festival 2014, Sedona International Film Festival 2014, Hoboken International Film Festival 2014 and the Central Florida Film Festival 2014.

Alicia Minshew received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the Hoboken International Film Festival. The actress was very excited to share the news about “Desires of the Heart” opening day in India. “Hey Y’all, our film #DesiresOfTheHeart just opened in theaters all over India today! Woo Hoo! Wanna take a trip?” Alicia tweeted.

Though filmed in 2013, “Desires of the Heart” does not have a release date set in the United States just yet. But fans are excited for Minshew and can’t wait to find out when they’ll be able to see the film in North America.
