“Guilt” is a sexy and sophisticated soap opera that has been added to the ABC Family line-up. The hour-long drama stars Daisy Head from “Syndicate,” Katrina Law from “Arrow,” and Billy Zane of “Titanic” fame. The family-oriented channel – soon-to-be renamed Freeform – is expanding its programming to reach a larger audience.
The new soap opera, according to TVLine, tells the story of a young American woman living in London who becomes the number one suspect in the brutal murder of her roommate and best friend, the premise is based loosely on the infamous Amanda Knox case. As the investigation into the murder unfolds the young woman’s own sister begins to question whether or not her sibling is innocent or a sociopath.
A depraved sex club that caters to the Royal family will be woven into the mystery and include all levels of London society. Billy Zane has been cast as a “cocky and cunning defense attorney.” Freeform executive vice president of programming and development Kathy Burke says that the “European location is bigger than anything we have ever done.”
“Guilt” comes from writer-executive producer Kathryn Price and Nichole Millard of “The Game Plan.” Former ABC Entertainment chief Steve McPherson will serve as executive producer. Gary Fleder of “Kingdom” and “Scorpion” will direct the pilot. “Guilt” is a co-production with Sea to Sky Entertainment and BV Family Productions.
