Police in Columbus released what might be new evidence in the tragic deaths of Spencer and Monique Tepe. Remember, they were found dead in their Weinland Park home about a week ago. Read on for more details on the update.
The New Evidence?
The update about the true crime arrived via WSYX ABC 6 on YouTube a few hours ago. The couple were murdered in their Weinland Park home on December 30, and it’s suspected that the family killer might have been known to them. Well, new video footage arrived, and it might show a “potential person of interest.”

It’s starky black and white, and not much can be seen. However, as the news reporter noted, it does show someone with a hoodie over their head. Plus, their hands are hidden. Notably, it’s “the only video released to media of any kind of evidence that could lead detectives to a suspect.”
What Happened?
The investigation started when Spencer Tepe, a 37-year-old dentist at Athens Dental Depot, missed work. And that seemed unusual. So, someone called in a wellness check. Additionally, a friend eventually looked through a window and spotted a body. What followed was a tragic outcome.
Spencer Tepe had been shot twice, and his wife, Monique, once. Both of them died, but their children were allegedly in the home, but physically unharmed. The basis for whoever it was who killed them perhaps knowing the family arrived because of no signs of forced entry. Plus, we reported that no murder weapon was found. So, it wasn’t considered a double suicide.
Fundraiser & Contact Numbers
While the public have been very generous with a fundraiser for the children, it seems that little other information arrived. It’s been about six days since the police asked for anyone who might be able to help with the case to contact them. It’s still ongoing, so you can still call the following numbers if you have any information:
- Columbus Police Homicide Unit: (614) 645-4730
- Central Ohio Crime Stoppers: (614) 461-TIPS (8477).
Viewers React To Video Footage
In the comments section of the report, many true crime followers hoped that experts might be able to identify the person from the way they walked. One person noted that there’s “a professor in England that does gait recognition technology biometrics. His name is Mark Nixon.”
However, others argued that it’s not totally “reliable.” Here are a few other responses about the Spencer Tepe and Monique murder update:
- whoever it was really wanted him dead. one shot to Mo. but 14 to him? whoever it was had a beef with him. she was just necessary to get out of the way to get to him. its heartbreaking how callous and miserable people are.
- Guy is obviously trying to remain unnoticed.
- This is cold hearted to take the children parents away from them while they sleep in the another rooms .. just cold hearted kids left with no parents.
