Reba McEntire Reveals Heartbreaking Final Call From Dolly Parton Before Her Death

It has been one month since country music legend Dolly Parton passed away at 80 years old, and Hollywood is still mourning the loss of the icon.

Since Dolly’s death on August 25 2026, several celebrities have paid their respects and shared tributes for the songstress, including her longtime pal Reba McEntire.

Reba McEntire Mourns Dolly’s Death

It’s no secret that The Voice alum Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton were very close, their public friendship spanned decades.  In fact, it dated all the way back to the singers’ Grand Ole Opry days in the 1970’s.

Both Dolly and Reba have told the story of how they met at the Grand Ole Opry in 1977 in multiple interviews over he years.

Reba McEntire famously gave up one of her slots to Dolly Parton at the Opry, just so that she could meet the “Jolene” singer in person.  Reba was starstruck!

Recently Reba McEntire sat down with Entertainment Tonight, and shared new details about her last conversation with the late and great Dolly Parton.

Reba recalled, “Well, it took us a long time to connect because of our schedules and things, and it was really special when we finally did connect and get to talk. I didn’t want to keep her. I knew she was busy ‘cause she always is, but I didn’t want to let her go.”

What the country singer revealed next is heartbreaking.  Apparently, Dolly called her in the days leading up to her death and Reba missed her call!  McEntire told Entertainment Tonight, “I was in a meeting and I missed her call.  I tried to get back in touch with her and I couldn’t, we never made connection. And then when Lisa Davis, my buddy, called me the morning of the 25th and she said, ‘Dolly’s gone.’ I thought, ‘I’ll never know why she called me.’ So, I’ll find out one day.”
