Prince William allegedly ran into a problem with his cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. Actually, a recent decision about them might backfire. Read on for more details.
William’s Latest Move
Per The Mail on Sunday, the Prince of Wales sidelined his cousins from major royal events. Notably, they can’t even go to the Royal Ascot in 2026. The outlet noted:
Sources say the sisters, whose names appear several times in the Epstein files, will not take their seats in the Royal Box at the prestigious horse-racing event in June, nor can they join senior royals for the Royal Procession.
Commentator Thinks It’s A Mistake
On Monday night, Neil Sean, a royal commentator, discussed that report on his Daily News Headlines vlog on YouTube. There, he explained that the two princesses now believe William made a “huge mistake.”

In light of the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, it seems that blowback falls on Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie: not to mention their mom, Sarah Ferguson’s involvement with Jeffrey Epstein.
Changng Media Focus?
As you probably know by now, Prince William hoped for a slimmed down monarchy. Instead of media focusing on non-working royals, he’d apparently prefer them to focus on himself, Catherine, the King, Queen Camilla, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
Of course, there is also Princess Anne. So, that explains why he’d rather not see his cousins at the Trooping the Colour or at Royal Ascot. But at the moment, Beatrice and Eugenie bring distractions.
Charles Allegedly Disagreed
There’s no escaping the fact that former Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson will never escape the media. So, it’s going to be interesting if William’s drawing a line works out for him.
Apparently, or should we say, allegedly, King Charles didn’t buy into the restrictions idea. After all, he’s known as a sort of middle-road kind of guy.
Fighting Back
The problem now, is that the sisters know how to fight back. According to Sean, they know the “art of marketing themselves.” Notably, they learned that from Sarah Ferguson.
For instance, Sean reminded his royal family viewers that the Princesses went public and were photographed “consoling each other” in Mayfair. In his opinion, it looked very staged: not to mention the convenient fact that a photographer happened to be there.
Sean warned that folks who follow the royal family might see more of that. From his perspective, they seem a bit like “loose missiles” now. No matter what Prince William wants, his cousins certainly know how to play the media game.
Will The Ban Backfire?
Notably, it might backfire, because even outside of royal appearances, if they accept invites almost anywhere, they’ll be sure to trumpet their side of the story. So, Sean predicted that folks might see “pictures” of them before the next big events.
The thing is, he believes that William did the right thing because he’d like to move forward. However, allegedly, the cousins have very different ideas on that.
So yeah, it is a mess. Prince William wants peace and focus: good luck with that. Meanwhile, his cousins want their place in the spotlight. For now, it’s a waiting game to see how it all pans out.
Viewers React
In the comments section, many royal family watchers think that William made the right move, regardless. And some folks don’t seem so happy with Eugenie and Beatrice right now.
One person wrote, “Beatrice and Eugenie are just like their parents-entitled and believe they are not accountable to anyone.”
Here are a few more responses from the discussion:
- The York sisters learned from the best, Andrew and Sarah. It’s time to trim the rot…
- They aren’t girls. They are grown women with children. If they can’t be truthful about their finances and shady dealings in the middle east then they can expect consequences.
- Until those two come clean about their involvement and knowledge of Epstein’s antics and clearly define every cent they got out of him, well William is right to block them!
